    1995 Big Red Burban

Sounds like a great project! I recently bought an ex-fire department Excursion at auction and am building it up, so we're on the same track.

New builder with a utility bed

Looks like a great starting point for your project! Looking forward to see how it turns out. I'm in the Houston area also and have been procuring parts and pieces for my trailer project over the past two years. I will finally be starting my trailer build soon.

    Car Camping Stove

Most of the camp stoves for sale today use such thin sheet metal that I question their durability. Keep an eye out on your favorite online auction site for new-in-the-box Coleman stoves from the 1970's (they DO exist). They are sturdier and you can score one for about what you'd end up paying...

The camp cot thread; what's good, what's bad ...

Alps Mountaineering Titan XL Just received my Alps Mountaineering Titan XL Cot today (thanks to RememberTheFallen for the heads up about the 30% off REI deal) and thought I'd share my thoughts. This thing is HUGE! I'm 6' and 225 lbs and it dwarfs me. It has plenty of room to move around and...

Great deal on a Flowjet On demmand pump!

Just an FYI, they have the bigger 12v 60 psi 1.35 gpm Boat Washdown pump on sale for 18.95 thru the 13th. Ordered mine this morning. I'll be interested to see if it has the oomph to be a shower pump.

    Square tubing thickness

I'm getting ready to purchase the frame material for my 4'x6' expedition trailer build and I've narrowed my choices down to two thicknesses. I'll be using 2"x2" square tubing for the basic frame and tongue and I'm either going to use 11 gauge (1/8") or 3/16" wall tubing. The 3/16" thick tubing...

    Inexpensive LED flood lights.

They were backordered on their 6LZs, but I received mine yesterday. After I ordered, I noticed that they changed the description on their website from 3 watt to 1 watt LEDs. Still, they are plenty bright, but more of an area flood light instead of a driving light. Perfect reversing light or...

Look what Uncle Sam is getting rid of

Those appear to be part of a reverse osmosis water filtration/treatment system. These are for citric acid to be used along with chlorine, polymer and sodium hex according to this webpage: http://www.quartermaster.army.mil/pwd/nsn/wtr-nsn_2007.pdf. I'm not sure if they are suitable for water...

need recommendations for a 12v fan

We used 2 of the O2 Cool 12v fans after Hurricane Ike knocked out power a couple of years ago. They worked great hooked up through a Y double cigarette lighter adapter to an old deep-cycle battery we had lying around. Plenty of airflow and ours had an adjustable base so you could get the...

I bought someone else's project, have I made a terrible mistake?

    First Build - Design phase

I'm excited to be joining the ranks of those who have built their own trailers from the ground up. This is my preliminary design based on the components that I have already or will be procuring soon. It will be based a 2x2 steel frame with the body built around a 1x1 square tubing skeleton...
