Old Land Rover in St. Paul

Nice. The pusher fan makes me wonder what might be hiding under the bonnet.

    Bought a couple of 110's

    I wonder how good US Customs is these days at distinguishing a 19j from a 200tdi, or a 300tdi from a 200tdi?

    Sankey (wide track) trailer conversion

Love the 1UpUSA bike rack in front. Mine's in back, and I have trouble keeping enough tongue weight on the front to make it pull nicely. Between putting the bike rack up front and the extendable tongue, that solves the issue. Very nice!

    Sankey (wide track) trailer conversion

The extendable tongue is a nice idea, the tongues on these are so short that they are really tough to reverse. Since the surge brake is gone are you going to install electrics? Looking forward to seeing your drawers.

    Sankey (wide track) trailer conversion

Nice looking lid! I can't weld aluminum so I fabbed a steel frame and skinned with .063" aluminum tread plate using 3M vhb tape. You should be able to see the lower gas spring attachment point-- I chose to drill the tub to make sure there was a very solid attachment. The springs are 200#...

    Sankey (wide track) trailer conversion

No, but only because I spent quite a few bucks replacing the aftermarket junk with the correct NATO 12 pin harness and a bunch of replacement lenses. The original lighting and wiring is well made and watertight, if it's in good shape. The convoy lights are cool, you should have two (one for...

    Sankey (wide track) trailer conversion

Nice! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Mine is still a work in progress though it is getting used at this point. I pull mine with an exmod 110. If you change the wiring/lighting please don't throw the military stuff away!

Help with trailer lid gas springs

One end of the strut should be mounted on the hinge side, the other to the lid. Your diagram appears to have the lower end mounted opposite the hinge.

Help with trailer lid gas springs

You might consider revising your geometry. Here is a more detailed diagram of my setup. My hinge is at the front of the trailer as my Sankey is wider than an M416.

Help with trailer lid gas springs

Just so you know what my geometry/weight was, here's a link to my situation. Upon further review my weight is higher, I have a James Baroud XXL up on top. 250# springs were too much, 200# just perfect. http://www.gunsandrovers.com/showthread.php?t=7970

Help with trailer lid gas springs

This. I got it right on my second attempt. First attempt was with 250 lb springs, second with 200 lb springs. My lid weight is similar to yours but the geometry is way different.

1st Time to Moab and 5 days to plan it.....What are the best trails?

This is a great reference: https://www.funtreks.com/guide-to-moab-ut-backroads-4wd-trails-new-3rd-edition I think if you're in Moab the classics for your group would include Fins n Things, Poison Spider Mesa, Hells Revenge, and Golden Spike. All are close to town. Start with Fins and work...

Certainly it can be done, but there are some switchbacks that you won't be able to make cleanly. When that happens, if you have some muscle with you it's quickest to disconnect the trailer and move it and/or re-position your tow rig. You absolutely need a hand brake on the trailer if you're...

The importance of a rear dust light in the southwest.

This thread has been a real eye opener. Evidently people are out there racing through the desert at high speed and they'll hit you if you don't have a rear facing 100w amber light. Slowing down isn't an option for them because they will lose control. I'm thankful people don't behave that way...

The importance of a rear dust light in the southwest.

Rear facing fog lights have similar intensity to brake lights. If those are on, taillights are on, flashers are on, and I get "nerfed" then that's not on me. Certainly in a closed course competition different rules may apply. Can't say that I've ever had anyone run up my *** on a dusty road...

Somebody help me understand what a "dust light" does that factory taillights and or rearward facing red fog lights wouldn't do.

    Dally Driver Locker Chose (Discovery)

If ARB is on your radar, then consider Ashcroft lockers. Brexit should offer you a very significant price advantage over ARB.
