hmmm, a real question for the experienced

We did about 2 years in our Unimog truck all around South America. Yup, there were some tight places, but also some places we could stay longer in due to our size - bigger trucks can carry more food and water. So, we stayed in some national parks for 2 weeks at a time without having to re-supply...

Reducing roll / sway for the back camper on a unimog

You could also try moving your reversing camera to look at the suspension or the pivot points while driving. Then you would be able to see in real-time what is moving..... You do have 2 anti-sway bars, one up front and one at the rear, both connected. Your shocks have done about 66K KM, and...

Moglanders Travels - So this is South America?

It's not too hard to get to the very front. None of the truck drivers care very much, and most of the trucks on the barge are just the trailers that are shunted on and off. When you arrive at the port, start asking. Everyone. We asked 2 or 3 people who all said yes, but eventually we met the...

Moglanders Travels - So this is South America?

Hi, We've another couple of posts yet to write, we are usually a little behind in them, recently anyway... So, 2 more to go. :-) It's gone to an American chap who wants to drive it home to the USA. Eventually :-)

Moglanders Travels - So this is South America?

Hi, Yes, we had a tough debate in Colombia would we go North, or continue through South America. Venezuela has a certain enigma, a "bad boy" type of reputation that made us think we had not really seen it all till we had visited it. We did miss the Guyana's, and Paraguay, but we do feel we got...

Moglanders Travels - So this is South America?

It's not too bad at all :-) If you (or anyone) is doing this, try hard to get your rig at the very front of the front barge. It's really worth it.

Moglanders Travels - So this is South America?

I am guessing there are not too many World Cup fans on here, but we've ended up in Brazil as part of our travels and we're now surrounded by people from all over the world who have arrived to Brazil to watch the World Cup. We have no tickets and no plans to go to a match, but the atmosphere is...

    4x4 rental in Bolivia?

Another vote for the taxis if you cannot find your own wheels. Get dumped at one of the "islands" where you can get food and maybe a room. bring 3 or 4 sleeping bags, and get inside them all at night :-) Well worth the effort, I camped on the salt (well, slept in my truck) and it was brilliant...

    Unimog u1300

We bought a non-turbo 1300, but very quickly got a turbo added. we would like fast axles, 65kph is our cruise speed to keep the revs between 2000 and 2200 which is the volume at which we can have a conversation :-) Merv

Moglanders Travels - So this is South America?

Hi Folks! It's been quite a while since my last confession, but we've been as good as gold :-) We've been through Colombia and Venezuela, both without any bad incidents, and in fact, leaving us with a very positive image of each country. Venezuela has it's issues, especially right now, but the...

Unimog 1300L Camper for Sale - SOLD

Hi folks, We are now gone from Colombia, we've crossed Venezuela (good blog post coming sometime soon), and we are now in Brazil. Brazil have dropped all temporary import papers for vehicles, so we can sell it to any non-brazilian here, and they can drive it on and exit the country with it...

Unimog 1300L Camper for Sale - SOLD

Hi, we are in Colombia right now, and in the final stages of deciding if we cross Venezuela to brazil, or go north. The next week or 2 will decide our route... On the other hand, if we did a deal with someone, we are happy to get it to any given country within reason....
