New Manufacturer: Cave Campers - 750 lbs, $<10k, high quality

They are a manufacturer by modern definitions in the marketplace I don't think semantics should get a debate going on this guys intro of his company's product. There isn't a manufacturer out there that makes anything on their own. Many in fact that do nothing other than put paint or stickers...

thanks guys! Most of this was completed 18 months ago. Last year was the first real outing and truck was great! I've since added icon adjustable shocks and redone all of the underbody bushings. I'm hoping to get a little more work done including an awning by early fall.

Would you recommend a Toyota Chinook or Toyota Sunrader?

Whata your budget and intended use? I have a Chinook mounted to an 80 series landcruiser/ Lexus lx450. The original Chinook is a lt. Wt. Construction including the floor. IMHO if you do a lot of washboard or non asphalt travel it's not goint to hold up in the long run without a solid floor or...

Robust Exped. Trailer- Pioneer Trailer Conv.- gull wing+ barn doors. solar/water

I should have clarified more. I'm not referencing the work I've done and comparing to others. I was pointing out the original materials and build of the trailer. Extremely heavy duty all the way around-.metal gauge, axle rating, etc I agree lots of great work here.

Robust Exped. Trailer- Pioneer Trailer Conv.- gull wing+ barn doors. solar/water

After building a lx450 + chinook I have decided to sell my expedition trailer. Located in AZ. In its previous life this trailer housed an assortment of heavy duty tools for the military. It was built to last a lifetime and will outlast most trailers currently being offered. All steel...

    Having problems sheeting!

Once it's tacked use seam sealer. Polyurethane flashing sealant like pl premium or similar works also.

    Having problems sheeting!

Also try welding closer to the side of the sheet and more on the frame. It looks like the bead is piling on top of the sheet instead of setting down into the frame. You shouldn't need to grind everyone of them if the welds are clean.

    Having problems sheeting!

Is that galvanized? It's hard to see on my phone. It looks to me like your weld settings are not correct and your laying down to much material. Is the frame clean metal or is it painted?

    LX450 + CHINOOK CONVERSION

I am trying to find units that have different light output settings. I think in most cases i won't need the high setting so would just be waisting energy. Ideally it would be great to having dimmable LEDs. George Scolaro has made some of these using bike housings and this seems to be ideal...

    LX450 + CHINOOK CONVERSION

I decided I wanted a 12V puma compressor after all the great reviews. The compressor head fits nicely into the area next to the heater and I decided to retain the tank. After running the copper lines through the floor it was fairly easy to refit the connections. The compressor is supplied...

    LX450 + CHINOOK CONVERSION

Im always trying to think about how to make the space functional and efficient so I welded small metal rod to the frame just above sink area. I can hang cups and plates to dry. I am also going to make some magnetic ones so I can easily hang whatever needed. The cable cord going along the...

    LX450 + CHINOOK CONVERSION

The original metal frame has a channel all the way around the circumference of the popup so i used this to run all the wiring for lights, outlets and gauges. I used 12 gauge/14 gauge for most everything. There are 12v single outlets in each rear corner and a triple 12v outlet in the front cab...

    LX450 + CHINOOK CONVERSION

I started working on the wiring, lights and outlets. First i pulled the freezer and seeing that it didn't match the color scheme of the interior I sanded it down and gave it a new color. The color "Fossil satin" looks almost perfect with the oak color of lx450.

    LX450 + CHINOOK CONVERSION

Forgot to mention the lx450 was 6405 lbs. Stock. With all the extras on my other lx450 it's probably over 7000. So I'm pretty encouraged by the numbers so far.
