Tundra vs 5.9 Cummins - Help!

ANY new truck parked next to the 1st gen Tacoma is gonna look gargantuan! I was coming home from work the other day, and came up on a nice looking Tundra. It had a lift, meaty tires, and a tailgate with the word "Tacoma" stamped on it. :D

2018 Subaru Crosstreks have arrived (2018=all new)

I wouldn't think it would affect OB sales. It's a big size gap between the Crosstrek and OB. Perhaps the WRX

2018 Subaru Crosstreks have arrived (2018=all new)

On a recent trip. All highway (reset the MPG as soon as we were on the freeway), flat and 65 - 70mph. 2.5 CVT OB. Usually, it's around 32-33mpg. It was an anomaly. I also found the OBC to be quite accurate when I calculate the mpg manually.

2018 Subaru Crosstreks have arrived (2018=all new)

CVT has been excellent for me, as well. Only negative is the noise. It's louder/whinier than other transmissions. Not too bad, but noticeable. Pull up the high elevation mountain passes with the 4-banger---no issues at all, whereas with my previous cars, I'd have to shift from 6th to 5th to...

Tundra vs 5.9 Cummins - Help!

I bet with the 5.0 and 33's, you'd be at 18-19MPG on the freeway (at 70mph). My truck (with 33's) is at 21-22MPG, all freeway, at 70MPH. I was up in Wyoming a little while ago and on a 50 mile flattish section of the highway, no cars on the road (around 11PM), I was doing about 55mph and fuel...

Pic Request.... Show me your fullsize quad cab going through the squeeze...

Coil springs is definite part of the lower payload, along with the heavier diesel engine. As far as the ride, I couldn't tell much difference, BUT I was just test driving around the city, so off-road may be a bigger discernible difference. - Pros and cons on either platform, so you'll just have...

    Getting there in my Colorado

Cool. Nice idea. I've thought about a rack like that in the past, but always wondered about security. Seems like a great solution.

Tundra vs 5.9 Cummins - Help!

Well, you should test it out for yourself, then, and report back. :) I've spent too much time/$ doing that myself... I have spreadsheets of data on this, as I used to commute 100 miles daily (for 8 years...).

Tundra vs 5.9 Cummins - Help!

I haven't found that to be the case, personally. I've used 31 to 33" tires, all same brand/tire (specifically, BFG KO). Going bigger meant less MPG. It just takes more power to move bigger/heavier wheels. I even went bigger but skinny (bought into the expo article that's been circulating for...

Pic Request.... Show me your fullsize quad cab going through the squeeze...

Ah, ok. Good to hear Ram made improvements. It would, for sure, make a great overlanding vehicle. One other thing to consider: rear space (if you're going for a crew cab). F150 is the biggest. It's gigantic, with a flat floor. Perfect for your kids plus dog. Not sure on the Ram. Either...

110k miles in 2 years? (or is it 3?). You must drive a lot. What's the crossbar at the back for?

Fullsize Landcruisers have also gone through the squeeze, so should be doable with a fullsize truck (as mentioned above). Move to a 1/2 ton has been great for me as well (2 kids, but no dog). So much space, that it makes long distance trips much less dreadful for the kids (which in turn, makes...

Tundra vs 5.9 Cummins - Help!

Or in my case, I'll squeeze through a spot (in my old 01 Taco), sweating a bit, then negotiate through some tight turns to the top.....to see a F350 crew cab at the top. :D - By the way, lift and +1 size (33's) should affect the MPG that much. I went from a P rated 32's to LT 33's and lost...

That is a pretty cool feature. Wish I had that. Guess I should be just grateful I have a backup cam. But every time I get in my neighbor's Platinum............

Tundra vs 5.9 Cummins - Help!

Well, it's not THAT bad. It looks like the approach/dep angles are 25.5/26 degrees. Tacoma has better approach, at 29 deg, but actually falls short on departure, at 23.5 deg. That front dam definitely would need to go. Do a simple Bilstein shock/lift, and you're set. As far as your tight...

Tundra vs 5.9 Cummins - Help!

C'mon, man! You getting your facts from trump??? :D F150 is only 5" wider. F150: 79.9" Tacoma: 75.2". - I'll have to agree on the approach angle. Well, if off-road capability is lacking, you can just simply do a front level. 33" tires fit at stock height as well. EDIT: Well, now I'm the...

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

If you feel the need to bring me back a souvenir, please pick me up a DC, flat bed. :) Thanks.

If Ford brings back the Ranger, will they make a Raptorized version?

No offense meant, buddy. I don't know much about what's included in your older Ranger. My comment was based on what you get with the FX4, on today's models (F150, specifically). Which is basically "off-road tuned front shocks", a decal, and some plastic "skids". They say rear locker as well...

Tundra vs 5.9 Cummins - Help!

The F150's are definitely big. After 2 years, I'm still getting used to parking. And that's true with all fullsize trucks. But how much time do you spend parking vs driving the thing??!! Driving/comfort/safety/utility/capacity---it's well worth the hassle of parking 10 more paces away...

Dodge 1500 crew cab rear seat space/comfort?

They're not bad. When I was shopping for 1/2 ton trucks (all crew cab models), I felt the Sierra had the smallest and F150 had the biggest. Ram was right behind the Sierra. The space is plenty good for couple adults and kids, especially if you're comparing to midsize trucks. But just go sit...
