    Wall-mounted vent fan options

It works great. I have a Maxxair mounted vertically in the back window opening of my 2010 Savana. No issues. Previously had a fantastic fan in the same location until the threads on the opener stripped out. Those are garbage. Don't bother. I have one in my new truck camper build it's...

    Insurance Woes

What worked for me State Farm personal insurance policy (have been with them over 20 years) I paid out of pocket to have my van appraised. Appraisal came back something like 4X the NADA value of the stock cargo van. I used https://www.motortechappraisals.com/ I sent the appraisal to my agent...

Anything is possible with enough time and money. However the chassis is completely different, the AWD models are torsion bar vs the 2wd being coil spring front spring.

I think it is more due to the stiffness of the pack than the arch. From memory (it was a long time ago) I remember the stock springs actually having more arch than the 2900# pack but they were so much weaker they sagged considerably more. If I were in your shoes I think I would try to...

1971 Airstream Sovereign 31' basecamp trailer project (Twin Cities MN)

Thanks! I no longer own this Airstream, but it may be for sale. A guy named Andy Ikerd purchased it and as I understand he's a Airstream fixxer upper / flipper. https://www.flickr.com/photos/36013288@N02/albums/72177720299214831 If you are interested PM me and I can forward his email address.

The great white fun hog (another white GM awd build)

Thanks. I agree with your valuation, that is kinda what I had in mind. But it's always nice to bounce it around. Honestly I'm torn. If I sell it for $15k I don't know what I would buy that would be half way as useful. But I also don't need two fully built camper rigs that get sub 15mpg parked...

The great white fun hog (another white GM awd build)

Well it looks like the time has finally come to part ways with my van. It's not ready to go just yet but I would like to hear what y'all think would be a fair price in today's market? 2010 GMC Savana 1500 AWD 210k miles Fresh rebuilt transmission and around 10k worth of maintenance work done in...

I had 190k on my vans front end, 100k of that with a torsion key lift before replacing ball joints/tie rods ECT. Even at that mileage it still drove fantastic. I only replaced parts as preventative maintenance. 210k after this weekend and running strong, though it did need a transmission rebuild...

    2019 F350 6.2L 4WD build thread; HPI flatbed, ATO AterraXL composite camper, Carli/King, 37s, 4.88s, etc

I'm in the process of building a similar setup (2017 F350, home built aluminum flatbed camper) though more road going than yours. Curious about the construction of your flatbed. Is it a 100% aluminum build? Or was it built with a steel structure then trimmed with aluminum? I have found both...

My 4x4 Red Cross ERV Build and Adventures

Hey I was going to ask this in a text but figured others would be interested. Now that it's hot out and you have had some time to put it through the paces how is the 12v AC working out?

Yeah I think so. Just using the Rock Auto catalog as reference 08 has a 305 MM front rotor and 09 has a 330 MM front rotor

Depends on what year van. They increased the size of the brakes at some point it think at 08/09. I know my 2010 I tried 16" wheels and they didn't clear the brakes.

I did not need new shackles on my 2010. Really as long as they are the same width and have the same diameter bolts there shouldn't be any issues.

I'm sure the lack of info indicates that not many people have tried the Fox shocks or didn't know about them. It's also possible they are a newer offering. Much of the info originally compiled in this thread was stuff I found before I bought my van, so 2012/2013 timeframe. Wholly crap has it...

That makes sense and probably a much better explanation than I came to. I think the most important thing to remember is that the suspension needs both up and down travel to ride well. So you don't want to crank the keys to the point of loosing your down travel (droop). This will definitely...

GM fullsize AWD Van Info thread

I think it depends greatly on how heavy your van is. In the front you are essentially increasing the spring preload by cranking the torsion bars. This could result in poor ride quality if your van is light. My van is heavy pretty much all the time. I find the ride quality the same or possibly...

GM fullsize AWD Van Info thread

Quoted from @drsmonkey Front Shocks = DO NOT USE SHOCK EXTENDERS, EVER! Cranking or changing the torsion keys to lift a vehicle does not change the total amount of suspension travel or where the bottom or top of that travel is relative to the shock. Those extensions only limit the amount of...
