    Kitanica Brush Pants?

The Made in USA Duluth stuff is priced not far off of this. Comparing these to the imported Duluth is not quite a fair comparison, a least for those concerned with such details. These look good but look super loose and baggy. Carhartt, Duluth and the like are constructed far too relaxed for...

    Warmest Fabric/Insulator?

Gore-Tex fabric is for waterproofing. It's insulating properties are negligible. Down is the warmest but in and of itself, it doesn't help much with wind or water. If I had one material, I'd go with a very heavy fleece, like Polartec 300. The synthetic fabric is somewhat water resistant...

    Line-X cost?!?!?! Really?

I can only comment on the inside box, but Line-X of Tulsa quoted me 460 give or take for my quad cab Dakota bed. They were only about 40 dollars higher the other local competitors (which for the Line-X product, I would pay that difference).

    Why do Europeans go winchless?

In Germany, I know they are very restrictive about what can be on the front of the bumper. No stingers, etc may be out past the bumper. I believe this disallows winches and their fairleads. So it's not so much a choice as it is a mandate.

    Awesome Overland Jeep

I am not too far from Pueblo, relatively speaking. This is damn temping after a couple drinks :D I could sell my Dodge, buy this, and have money in my pocket. I could even live with the old camper; it looks pretty clean considering the age. Get some new tires in Pueblo and drive it 10 hours...

Found 2006 Tundra with 17k miles

You can probably get them down some. I think a low mileage used vehicle is the sweet spot for buying. The closest to being new, without it being new, the better. I purchased my 2005 Dakota in December 2008, so 3 almost 4 years old at purchase. It had 35k give or take miles. Quad Cab (4 full...

    treadwright tires

This is my take as well. It's not knocking the retread tires, but the math worked out that way for me as well. I always do better buying somewhere locally after considering shipping. Discount Tire Direct comes close with the free shipping, but I can find places that match or beat it. I got...

Photos of mid-sized vehicles - Post Here

Finally got a pic of my Dakota aside from when I took it home and parked it in the driveway, three years ago this month. She's a quad cab 4x4 V6, with absolutely bare-bones options. Auto trans, air, and CD player. No power windows or locks, not even tilt nor cruise. Had 38k on the odometer...

Why does "size matter" in N.America???

I know you added some qualifiers that I omitted, but if you look back a couple decades, there was a tiny "One Ton" being imported to the states: :D Though towing 5,000 pounds with that 22RE had to be interesting!

IFS - who has experiance with OMU or AEV shock/springssystems for your Liberty? I am

I run a Daystar spacer lift with Rancho rear shocks. Mine went on with less than 20k miles, and I am at 90k now. It isn't necessarily bad, but the stock springs get soft and wear out. Then they need replaced. At least I got my money's worth of of the spacers since they went on fresh springs...

How to Season a Pie Iron

Yup! If it isn't rusting, it's likely okay. Just keep using it and the cooking oils continually re-season it as you cook. The seasoning is actually where the oil and metal interact to form the non-stick surface, changing the chemistry of the porous cast iron to be the smooth cooking surface...

If you can't afford a winch.

I have an old Deuer Mini Mule, which I found in my grandfather's shed after he passed away. I remember using it as a boy with my father a few times, to put tension on trees while felling them, and once to pull folded fenders and bed quarter panel on a wrecked Ford Ranger to get it drivable...

Xtreme 4x4 Expedition Jeep Grand Cherokee

I don't have a problem with the products themselves, but is a 6.5" and 4.88s (not to mention on the stock axles) the best approach? Then pulling the engine to swap ? I think it's a bit overbuilt, personally. I think there's a lot to be said about something that can be serviced more easily?

Beer of the day: A saga for the perfect beer.

My new local favorite: not my pic - stolen from Google Battered Board Coconut Cream Stout It's an Oklahoma beer, and I love the toasted coconut flavors and coffee notes. Only problem is, it pours with no head and feels very thin. So it's not a great beer, but I enjoy it well enough and...

Anyone wheeling the new Jeep Liberty?

Really nice parts to kit out a KK here: http://jeepinbyal.com/cat-Jeep_Liberty_KK_%282008_plus%29-64.aspx Includes quality A arms and lifts from basic sprints/shocks to custom adjustable struts. I would stick to a 2.5" lift personally, but they sell all the way up to 4" :Wow1: I disliked the...

Split the Jeep thread in two: one for Rock Crawlers and another for Expeditioning

Then just GTFO! Kidding! :D I figured a bit of false bravado could add some levity to this thread. I own two IFS vehicles, a Liberty and a Dakota. Would I prefer SFA? Probably, but only due to the simplicity of it and the suspension over an IFS. I.e., it's a heck of a lot easier to...

Anyone every do a covered Utility body ExPo Truck?

Something like this? http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/2677801641.html I'd rock one. I bet it would be an awesome vehicle, though the weight could limit some activity.

Check your Vehicle for Recalls Here

I know we have a sticky posted about TSBs, but it never hurts to periodically review you vehicle for recalls. Particularly if you purchased it used, as you may not receive recall notices. Additionally, some recalls are issued on aftermarket parts that were specific to a vehicle; notices are...

Best NON-cotton "adventure" pants that won't break the bank???

North Face is not what it used to be, I think we can all agree. But some of their original designs still prove practical and of fine quality. Their Paramount Peak convertible pants are my outdoor pant of choice. They are more a warm weather pant though; good base layers will be needed in...

    Watches - ExPo Style

I sold off some of my watches, as I had acquired a few too many. I left myself with three. I have a dressier Seiko chronograph, and a cheap Fossil that I received as a gift from my father (so it has sentimental value) that dressed up well with a nice leather strap. But for everyday wear, and...
