Looking for ball park curb weight on a T6500, T7500, and Isuzu FTR,FSR,FVR

I don't know what your deck is but mine is some sort of 1.75" thick wood plank (maybe apitong) I think it may be 900 pounds or more of wood. I can get aluminum 6 inch deck planks that span the same area that weigh around 300 pounds. A nice easy (well, except for removing the rusty screws) way...

2003 Mitsubushi FG Overland Camper Renovation

Nice inverter. I put a similar one in our build (Magnum hybrid 4,000 watt pure sine). I had a tiny issue with mine but live a couple miles from the Magnum factory so just carried it over there. The nice folks fixed it the same day. It is brilliant, doesn't even turn on the fan when running...

Looking for ball park curb weight on a T6500, T7500, and Isuzu FTR,FSR,FVR

Thanks for the first hand experience boostin! I agree it must be the 6cyl is much much heavier than the 4cyl, plus the NRR has a 44,000psi frame and the T7500 a 80,000 psi frame (likely much heavier). The cab has space behind the seats (which would be nice I admit) making it heavier, and the...

Looking for ball park curb weight on a T6500, T7500, and Isuzu FTR,FSR,FVR

I called a dealer selling a 2007 T-7500 and he had some papers showing the cab and chassis weighing in at 11,700 pounds ! Damn. If you tossed our 20 foot flatbed on that it would be 13,800 pounds. Our Isuzu with the flatbed is 8700 pounds. Difference of 5100 pounds, which pretty much eats up...

Looking for ball park curb weight on a T6500, T7500, and Isuzu FTR,FSR,FVR

Thanks. An interesting link because it gives some comparison of the T series to the Hino, UD, Fuso series, but it does not have any info about curb weight. I should add that a Mitsubishi FM260 would also work.

Looking for ball park curb weight on a T6500, T7500, and Isuzu FTR,FSR,FVR

I cannot seem to find this information. I realize the exact curb weight will depend a lot on model year, accessories, tires. I just want a ballpark figure to compare with my 2006 Isuzu NRR with 176" wheelbase (6600 pounds for cab and chassis without 2100 pound flatbed). Because the T series...

Changing out heavy steel flatbed for aluminum

Yes, you may be right but for the same weight (expanded metal about 250 pounds, aluminum plank about 300 pounds) the aluminum planks would be sexier. Either would work (or nothing at all) for our camper and garage. We test fit the welded up 7'x7' ramp door today and installed five aluminum...

Changing out heavy steel flatbed for aluminum

The garage also has a floor. It is made similar to the camper (2x1 steel tube spaced on 16 inch center with 2 inches of polyiso foam then 3/4" marine plywood screwed on top. Very strong. Both the camper and the garage pod easily support themselves on three jacks while staying level, meaning...

Changing out heavy steel flatbed for aluminum

I most definitely would be happier with a bigger truck but having put a decent amount of money into this truck I am not sure how much I am going to lose on the swap (new tires, new injectors, new interior seats, paying sales tax on purchase). Add to that my limited range and model (must be a...

Changing out heavy steel flatbed for aluminum

Cody, yes I was thinking about this last night while trying to get some sleep. I was going over in my head how I might support and attach the expanded metal and thought about aluminum planks and if they exist. The span would take 22 four inch wide extruded planks that are almost 20 feet long...

Changing out heavy steel flatbed for aluminum

Thanks for the work dwh. I made some exact measurements of the wood bed. The boards are 19 feet 9 inches long and span 90 inches. They seem to be 1.75" thick. I found that pressure treated wood (not sure how that compares to oil/water soaked oak) is 0.024 pounds per cubic inch. Total cubic...

Changing out heavy steel flatbed for aluminum

Yes, that is a good question. How much does does that oil/water saturated weathered oak weigh compared to just a light surface such as what you suggest. Perhaps the wood is 500 pounds of the flatbed weight? Another question is the funky way the frame was extended. It almost looks like the...

Changing out heavy steel flatbed for aluminum

Sorry for jumping around on topics here but we are brainstorming our camper setup and trying to explore options. We were discussing upgrading our truck from a NRR to a F series or GMC T series truck to go from 19,500 GVWR to 25950 GVWR. The problem right now is we are around 16000 GVWR with...

    Diesel guys...Isuzu vs Duramax engine?

Riptily, very interesting! I have a few questions for you. The FRR seems to be the lighter version of the series, correct? The body builder guide rate it at 19,500lb GVWR, the same as the NRR. A 6800 pound front axle vs the 10,000 pound front axle on the FTR,FSR,FVR. The T7500 are similar...

    Diesel guys...Isuzu vs Duramax engine?

Thanks for all the info guys. So stay pre 2007 but post 2002 so you get a Isuzu 6H engine with no DPF? (before 2002 some seem to use the CAT engine) Tight band but I will start looking.

    Diesel guys...Isuzu vs Duramax engine?

I have been looking around at a truck upgrade from our Isuzu NRR for capacity reasons and noticed some models of the GMC T-7500 come with a Duramax 7.8L engine and some come with a Isuzu engine of similar displacement. Are these essentially the same engine and about the same reliability or is...

    Fuso 4X4 XPCamper Cube Build

Or a crew cab 4x2 with a winch. Isuzu makes the crew cab in the NQR and NPR versions for sale in the USA. 215HP 452 lbs./ft torque.

Japanese heavy trucks with low miles?

I have started the hunt for a 25,950 GVWR cabover to replace our 19,500 GVWR Isuzu NRR. A GMC T-7500 or the Isuzu or Mitsu equivalent. I want to stick with pre 2008 (which isn't too hard since they seem to have stopped importing them to the USA after 2008). Occasionally I notice a very low...

    NPR truck camper build

What are your current plans for waterproofing the garage area walls? (We live in Seattle and so are always thinking about water intrusion).

    NPR truck camper build

Yes, no problem IMO except for possibly some remote rural roads. Almost everything you encounter is over 13' high. We are right at 12' with our build and I am not too worried about anything on main roads in the USA.
