2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Locks: BVO suggested locking them because the turnbuckles themselves are quite expensive. I found a generic "outdoor" rated Masterlock at the hardware store with the right clearance. Just bring the pin to compare shackle diameter and measure the clearance required to go through both holes on the...

Noticed the same thing on our trip last weekend to the Winds along with some condensation at the very edge of the ceiling extrusions where the foam break stops. Stayed above freezing but cooled off into the high 30s at night. I might email OEV and get their feedback about the mattress in...

For those with the molle panels, what do you use to mount stuff? In particular, seems like it would be great to mount the step ladder back there rather than put it in and out of the truck or camper all the time (particularly when wet or muddy). Also, a long-overdue update on my roof situation...

Haven't tried but there'd be plenty of room. I'm planning to put a little door or maybe just small cargo net by the turnbuckles to be able to store some extra stuff there. Pretty sure we could fit skis in a ski bag easily, and a lock on the turnbuckle effectively locks anything in place as long...

We were talking about this in a DM but figured it might be helpful here. We have 2021 Ram 2500 crew cab with 6.4L gas engine + some basic airbags in the rear, door sticker says 3187 lb payload. Plenty of clearance for anything I'm likely to want to drive :) definitely feels loads more capable...

Thanks for the heads up. I definitely have it cranked pretty tight right now, will back off a touch. Yup, looks like the one we have. We're pretty stingy with water so not much going in there anyway, but it's nice for drowning campfires or otherwise properly disposing of it if the campsite area...

Took camp sweet camp down to Escalante for the weekend. I could get used to this whole hot shower thing... @chadx the step ladder is a great recommendation, thanks. Also, the Yakima swing away hitch rack adapter has perfect clearance, at least with our bike rack. It's probably not as burly as...

@crystalclear yup, they confirmed that the roof passed all their testing at the time of manufacture and they didn’t discover the problem with this batch of adhesive until later. @chadx agreed. Totally in keeping with everything else I’ve seen from them.

Roof update: Arnold at OEV walked us through the likely cause, what in the camper could be affected by water intrusion, and how they'll work with us and BVO to solve it. I'm super impressed with how they're standing behind their product. The cause is a bad batch of Sikaflex, but rather than...

I was messing with this last night. For what it's worth, our late 2020 model has at least the comfort version. If I turn on power to the heater (via the outside power switch) and then reset the combination control panel on the inside so it recognizes that the heater is on, I can set it to off...

@crystalclear thanks. I did a test last night (pictures below) and confirmed that the seal is the issue so definitely something to keep an eye on. BVO immediately contacted OEV on my behalf (continuing the excellent service) and said they would both help me get it resolved. I'll keep this thread...

@Crux thanks for the response. Good to know and to see those pictures. Yes it was closed and the cushions underneath were not wet. Likewise roof vent was closed and locked. Only one night so far after picking it up from BVO. We drove a bit of the Switzerland Trail up above Boulder and did some...

First the good news: Finally got a hold of a truck (2021 Ram 2500) and brought our 2020 Camp-X from Boulder Vehicle Outfitters back home to Utah last weekend! Thanks to everyone on this thread—you helped us make a decision and go with the Camp-X. I had very high expectations of quality, and it's...

Ours will be a 2020, so no existing valve (I think). Might be able to plumb one in later since it looks like they use standard PEX fittings everywhere. I'm curious from existing owners whether that's necessary.

Picking up ours from Boulder Vehicle Outfitters in a few weeks! Super excited. For those using the water systems in below freezing temps, what's your process? Anything to do besides add the Truma electric antifreeze thing and leave the camper heat set to at least some above-freezing level (40?)...
