    New 2018 Colorado ZR2 - Icedragonmx's Trip Reports

I am sad to say that @icedragonmx will not be receiving a Vagabond Drifter. His family informed me of his passing. I don't have any information other than that. We spoke a few times and exchanged many e-mails. I make a connection with every customer and am truly saddened by his passing...

Just going to leave this here...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

The fabric is “cold crack” rated for -40° F. So -25°C (-13°C) shouldn’t be a problem. The fabric will get stiffer with cold weather, which is why we went with field- adjustable latches. They are easily operable with snow gloves on. The snow could sit on the ledge at the bottom of the tent...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

Definitely. Terrible picture, but the boat could extend to the hood on a DCSB or Access cab. Those bars are about 1-1/2” off the roof, so people with DCLB’s may need to go with a higher rise if the boat is longer than 13’. If the total is less than 100 lbs, it shouldn’t be an issue. We...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

Just reading back through the posts and realized I didn’t respond to this. It was great meeting you Phil! And also realized that your picks are between a full sized Vagabond camper and a Maltec??!! Honored to be in the running. Those are some very nice campers. Seriously stoked that you...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

I spoke with Ramon at Expo and told him a local Frontier Guy was going to make it to the shop soon... small world! We redesigned the cab, based on Brian’s measurements and our previous ones, and have something in the works. Please let us know when you’re available. Our V1’s were really the...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

We appreciate that we’re perceived as youthful! I’m 43 and Iggy is in his mid 30’s. When it comes to marketing, we are heavily involved in the social media aspect, but rely on a friend we employed to do our marketing. He’s a professional and is doing an awesome job at it. We’re mainly...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

The CNC formed lower roof is bent up vertically where the bottom of the tent connects. The awning track is attached to that. Older picture. The ends of the tracks are now chamfered and a bit closer together at the leading corners. The continuous (along each side) keder rope is sewn to the...

Ten questions for someone considering a Four Wheel Pop Camper

1.) Had it mounted to a swingout tire carrier. Mine is 10 years old and it is used enough to justify carrying it. 2.) On the swingout as well, but many mount it above the taillights on the camper. 3.) My water system was modular and inside the camper. My guess is that the stock tank is...

    Overland-ish Tacoma Flippac Build

Of course! I'm in Benicia. PM me and we'll work something out.

    Overland-ish Tacoma Flippac Build

Thank you! Wish I could take credit for the build. Had a local fabricator build the flatbed and a commercial camper shell manufacturer build the top. It's skinned with aluminum sheeting. The type you see on commercial caps and semi trailers. Pretty durable, but thin. It wouldn't be...

    Overland-ish Tacoma Flippac Build

Haven't posted here in a while. Got the fabric on finally. Still have some bugs to work out, but it's coming along. Spent 8 nights in the camper in July. It helped to validate my original interior plan. That's next on the list.

A stock DCSB Tacoma weighs 4,200 lbs. When I had the Fourwheel camper, swingout, and full tank of gas, the truck weighed in at 6,700 lbs. Skids, plate bumpers, sliders, winch, and basic camping gear. With only the steel flatbed and full tank (and all the armor), it was 5,100 lbs. Your...

To Keep or Not to Keep

Didn't have too much trouble off road with stock gearing and 33's. The Falcon was a bit lighter, but with full armor, I was around 6,800 lbs. The compression braking helped a lot though. What's your total weight?

    Overland-ish Tacoma Flippac Build

Thanks for the support and comments! Haven't posted here in a while. Well, here's the progress so far. Got distracted with 35's and all the impractical things associated with them. 4.88 gears, trimming, hammering, new wheels.... now I can concentrate on the camper and getting the fabric...

    Overland-ish Tacoma Flippac Build

Sorry guys! Went MIA for a bit. Truck is dropped off and I'll try to post some progress pics when they have the framing done. Here's the flatbed. Springs were not built for an unladen truck obviously. And don't mind the temporary ghetto taillight setup.
