Fiberglass insulation is zoned rodent residential

We are remodeling the inside of our Airstream Interstate Sprinter conversion, and followed droppings behind a wall panel until we found the rodent residential area. They love that pink fluffy stuff. I wonder if they like Thinsulate this much? Sent from my moto g stylus 5G (2022) using Tapatalk

    Yaesu FTM-300DR powering down

I'm almost ready to dispose of my FTM-300DR. It shuts down randomly, and I can't figure out why. APO (automatic power off) is off. It's mounted in my Defender, vertically on the back of the center console and it worked well in that installation for a year before it started this problem. I...

Solar to starting or house battery?

I am permanently mounting a solar panel on our 2023 Defender. I would like to have it charging the starting battery, since systems draw several amps of power every time you open a door, and can drain that battery when you are out in the field for a couple days. If I do this, will any excess...

    Our 8th Land Rover

Hi All, After owning our 1968 Land Rover Dormobile for 17 years, it was time to pass it on to someone new. To replace it, we bought a 2023 Defender. What can I say, we wanted to try something different. We have had the new one for 6 months, taken it off the pavement a lot, and love it.

Routing coax to the roof rack

For those who have their antenna on the roof rack, how did you route the coax? I have done a lot of ExPo and overall internet searching, and the topic is lightly covered. Most installations I have seen just run the coax through a door seal, which I dislike. If the roof rack wasn't there I would...

ARB Refrigerator causing RFI on handhelds

Hi All, We have an ARB fridge mounted between the front seats of our 04 Sprinter. I have not gotten around to installing a mobile radio in this vehicle yet, so we use handhelds, both Icoms and Baofengs. They both get a strong, annoying signal whenever the compressor is running. It happens on...

ARB fridge compressor RFI on 2m/70cm

Our ARB fridge compressor causes RFI on any nearby handhelds when it is cycling, including my Icom and on my Baofeng, both on VHF and UHF. Can I install a capacitor somewhere to prevent this? Thanks, James

    ARB Compressor install locations?

Any suggestions on where to install one in a 1992 Range Rover? We have our dual battery in the front left corner, so that eliminates one of the easy options. We just acquired a wrecked 1998 Disco with ARB lockers that we want to transfer over.

    Will it start?

My wife and daughter decided to help our friend resurrect her 1995 Discovery that had been sitting for 14 years. It was a mess, so they decided to make videos about it. Here is their latest effort: Will Merlin Start??? | Resurrecting a 1995 Land Rover Discovery 1

Awning won't retract without a lot of help

Our Sprinter came with a Carefree of Colorado awning that extends and retracts with a hand crank. The PO hardly ever used it. There is some sort of clutch or loose coupling inside, because when we try and retract it, you can feel slippage in the mechanism. It takes 3 people to retract it. One to...

    Hella light ID

Hi All, We picked these lights up at the local junkyard. I think they are Hella 4000s, but there are no identifying numbers on the outside. If they are 4000s, there are 4 different versions of those, so how do I tell which. We'd like to put them on our 95 Disco. We drive a lot at night in elk...

    Vehicle lighting resources

A couple of weeks ago while traveling after dark on I-17 in Arizona, we saw a couple of vehicles on the shoulder ahead with their hazards on. I slowed down from 65 mph to 55, and was glad I did because the reason those vehicles were there was because one of them had just hit an elk, and the...

    D1 rescue for my daughter

We recently bought a 1995 Discovery 1 with an almost perfect exterior and a nice interior for much less than half the price of an iPhone. It drives really nice, but had a blown head gasket. Following the tradition of Land Rover turning owners in the mechanics since 1948, and since I had just...

    2004 Sprinter front recovery points?

Any ideas on how to install front recovery points to this? I can already tell it needs two, and during recovery a bridle should be used.

    House battery troubleshooting

I need help diagnosing before I start throwing money at the problem of our house battery not holding a charge. I can't decide if it is because it is old and abused, or there is something intermittently drawing it down. In July, we bought a 2004 Sprinter with 45 kilomiles on it. It is an...

    Found: RRC Borg-Warner transfer case

UPDATE - we have a rebuilt one on the way. Anyone know of a rebuilt Borg Warner transfer box for sale? They seem to be in short supply. A lot of places have them listed but when you call them, they don't actually have it available. FTC1564E.

    Wired winch remote recommendations

I never liked the winch remote that came with our Ramsey REP8000, and now that the contacts are getting flaky, I have an excuse to replace it. Any recommendations? I have a distrust of wireless controllers so I would like to stick to wired.
