I need to upgrade my truck to a 250/2500

Go with the 1 ton, especially with the RAM. The coil springs on a RAM 2500 aren't really great for heavy constant loads. At least with the leaf springs in the 3500 you can add a leaf easily or a helper spring. You could do airbags on the 2500 with coils but that tends to add sway.

New (to me) pop up camper!

Hey, I have an extended cab long box truck. I’m in NJ but more than willing to ship. No big deal. Let me know if they would work on your truck. I hate to see expensive things not get re-used. They worked great for our purposes. We hauled a livin lite camper all over the south and west for 6...

New (to me) pop up camper!

I have a set of Torklift tie downs on my F150 that I may be willing to part with. I'm not sure if A. a set for a 2016 truck will work on a 2013. B. if the set on my 8 foot bed truck also work on your 6.5 foot bed. If you want to call them up and figure it out, we could talk about a steep...

Torklifts on 1st gen tacoma DC

And to further follow up. I thought all FWC tied down directly in the bed. My camper did that and I believe they are all setup to do that from the factory. I could very well be wrong. That is why my first post was about suspension and not tie downs. I assumed you didn’t need external tie downs.

Torklifts on 1st gen tacoma DC

Ha ha I’m sorry. I thought you were referring to the Torklift stable load system. Suspension enhancements. I have those and the Torklift tie downs on my F150. If you google Torklift stable load, you’ll see what I was referring to. They do work really well and I would suggest them for your truck...

Torklifts on 1st gen tacoma DC

I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t work. You will need to drill the springs though and that’s more like milling than drilling. I installed a 2k helper spring from Hellwig, Timbrens front and rear and decent shocks when I was hauling a 4wheelcamper shell. Was happy with the performance on my Taco...

    The Little 2TRFE That Could..

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear the truck is still going strong and you got a proper replacement. I always seem to switch between 4cylinder Tacoma’s and full sized diesel trucks myself. I currently have a 2002 4 cylinder Tacoma for my work truck. It has a plow setup and hauls firewood. The...

Does the 2007 V6 4Runner have enough power

If you put larger than stock tires, you basically need to re-gear. Sometimes even a stock truck will perform better with lower gearing. So, if you feel like you've lost power due to tires, plan to re-gear.

    03 f150 5.4 compared to 09-10 f150 5.4

I would avoid an 05 or newer 5.4. The cam phaser issue is a deal breaker for me. Stick with the V10, 7.3, Chevy 6.0 or if you can find one 8.1. I saw one recently on Craigslist with a 6spd...super super rare.

Low mileage 7.3 manual ford value?

List it for 20k and see what offers you get. People pay crazy money for these trucks and if you can get the premium, why not. At 20k it's 1/3 the price of a new one...

Should you buy a truck that has had the frame replaced?

I specifically searched for a truck with a replaced frame when I bought my most recent truck. If I had extra time and the ability to travel for my truck when I bought it, I would have gotten something out of a dry climate or a place with no salt on the roads. Even though my frame is mint...

Painting seat backs and seat bottoms with bedliner, anyone done it?

I just don't understand why manufacturers have to put fuzzy carpeting on every surface. I have dog hair stuck to everything in my truck. Your fix looks factory and will certainly repel hair. Nice. -Jorge

    2nd Gen Tacoma Engines

I think it really depends on your driving style. I have an 06 access cab with the 4banger 5spd. My wife drives an 09 quad cab short bed with the auto. We took her truck out to Colorado last summer with a small trailer. We got 10mpg but we could hold 70mph on most highways and passes. My...

    7.3 Smoke on cold start

50-60 degrees is really warm to have significant smoke. I was referring to 40 degrees or under. I mean when it was 8 degrees and windy in the mountain lot after work, I always had my fingers crossed it would start at all... I've never heard of the CPS causing issues at start, that's why I'm...
