Thanks jonyjoe, If I understand Rando the BMS can change the direction of the "diode", so it doesn't really completley disconnect the cells, just blocks charging, so no issue with the mppt or alternator.

So your two panels are in series. I would guess you wan't the higher voltage for long distances with panel placment? My cables start out at 20M... some up to 40M....all so I can get to those small patches of sunlight.

Can't see my self is a million years using a battery operated chainsaw, the things loose too much capacity in just 3-5years. Based on other gadgets I have owned. I use a corded unit with the generator, since the genny is required for battery charging, it isn't too much work clearing a track.
