Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

I used a the factory Toyota master cylinder and clutch pedal and drilled a hole in the bellhousing to route the line to a hydraulic throw out bearing, thus eliminating the slave cylinder and fork completely. It’s been working great with no issues

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

Hey, I’m still around if you want or need help with anything. Sorry for the lack of response here. The 2UZ manual swap is still running strong. Haven’t had to do any work to it yet but I do want to add a front locker soon. If you message me on instagram I’ll probably respond sooner @northboundtundra

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

The Kid would be epic, especially the adapter plate! If you wanted extra credit, would be to come up with a adapter plate for the RA 60 6 speed as well! I’ve got another friend who was asking for a kit too I’ll see how quickly I can get it done. The RA 60 6 speed would probably be an easier...

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

Yeah, just about everything is stock Toyota in this build except for the adapter plate and throwout bearing, including the clutch pedal. A list with oem part numbers is a good idea that I will work on. Now that I have some miles on it I’m thinking about building kits for people who are...

    2004 Tundra Adventure Cab - Build/Adventure Thread

Got it. So a custom cv axle is a must. My tundra is a 2001, so does that mean that the Tacoma spindles are a direct swap for my year? After thinking more about what happened I think I either granaded my front diff or busted the ring and pinion. If that’s the case then I would really like to...

    2004 Tundra Adventure Cab - Build/Adventure Thread

I might be interested in one of your roof racks too. Can you make them with a different front piece to accommodate a light bar? Or would you just leave it off completely for that application. I like the Tundra lettering too. I also wanted to get your feedback on doing the manual hub conversion...

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

Sweet, it would be cool to see another one get built! So far it has been working great. Last weekend I think I broke something after getting stuck in the snow. I got high centered and had one wheel in the front and one wheel in back spinning because I don’t have lockers. I guess it was a bad...

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

Update! Finally finished up fabricating the transmission mount and have everything in place. Did a drive test and everything is working great so far. Pretty awesome to have a manual transmission in this thing :)

Truck camping-looking for suggestions on organization and storage

That’s pretty much what I do too, except I have an RTT with a two person sleeping bag that folds up with it and I don’t have a portatoilet. I bolted mini d-ring shackles to the tailgate end of the bed to strap my cooler in place and keep the dry food in the cab.

Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

Looks like all of the R150F transmissions have had the same gearing. Here’s a chart that might be helpful for anyone wondering what their gearing is.

It’s sweet! I have to finish fabbing up the custom transmission mount so I’ve only done a 1st to 2nd and back to 1st shift to see how it felt but it’s like a completely different truck. It feels light and peppy. So far I just removed the column shifter but after I work the bugs out I’m going to...

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

Update: Got the driveline hooked up and this thing feels amazing to drive! So far I’ve gotten to do reverse, 1st and 2nd. Once I have the transmission mount fabricated I will be able to do a complete road test. As far as the ADD system goes, I completely removed the 4wd control ecu and now...

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

How did the valve body job turn out? I wouldn’t mind getting into the engine soon to start sprucing things up. I really this truck setup so I plan on keeping it for a while. I just got the driveline installed today so I hope to have a road test report sometime next weekend. Once you have...

    Electric Chain Saw???

That is sweet to hear. I've been thinking about ditching my gas saw in favor of a battery powered saw to save space and not have to worry about maintenance.

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

Did you have a v6 manual 4wd tundra to start with? If you still have the manual transmission and t case you should be able to put them back in. I'm curious what you had to do to install the v8.. As far as strength goes, they both share the same transfer case and I believe the stock r150 is good...

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

That's sweet that you've been following the instagram account. Definitely more of a background there. I'm not exactly sure what failed but the output shaft was burned and a groove was worn in the center of the splines that go inside of the torque converter. Nothing would spin freely. I'm...

Northbound Tundra, building a 5 speed manual transmission swapped 2001 Toyota Tundra with 2uzfe 4.7 liter engine into an overland adventure vehicle

I just picked up my modified driveline yesterday so I haven't gotten a chance to fully appreciate it yet. A kill switch for the ADD would be nice but my goal is to have it work as if it were factory. After that I think I might add a switch so I could have 2wd low, but I don't see much of a need...
