Cellular voice and data coverage in the western USA

From the deserts of S CA, mountains of OR, and just about every place we have been in the US, Verizon has worked. Most of my cooworkers have switched from att / sprint due to poor coverage. We have been in some remote areas, gotten to the top of a hill / mountain - and gotten 3g or better...

BUBB - Big Ugly Budget Build

Update time: BUBB has had a busy summer. Made several trips over the Cascades - one for SxS riding @ Little Cultus Lake, Irish & Taylor, Waldo areas. And an issue arose - lost 2 cylinders - making the big block into a V6. Got to camp, ran into town for new plugs & wires. Felt good on the way...

    Cummins or Cadillac?

Interesting post. Am also considering between a BBC / Cad and a Cummins for an engineless NPR project. Like my Cummins but they are cubic $ for a 12v right now. Big CID motors can be had for little cash theses days.

BUBB - Big Ugly Budget Build

The Chevy mounts would be easiest - just need to get to B&R to look for some. Now for some updates. The side cargo area is all framed in, drop down doors frames fabricated and installed, stainless latches attached. The diamond plate skin did not arrive in time so had to run with out it for now...

BUBB - Big Ugly Budget Build

mrbracket - Fern Ridge area IdahoXJ - thanks Captn Eddie - I understand your concern; these are stronger than they look. And as a desert racer - all suspension hardware gets a visit from a torque wrench. Lug nuts often get checked every morning, Ubolts before every trip, and every thing after a...

    Suspension Upgarde Suggestions

BUBB - Big Ugly Budget Build

Some updates: The side box frames are fabbed and welded up. Rear tie downs also done. Built some overload spring extenders (aka stabiloads). Seem to work good, about 1 hours worth of fab and $15 in material. And then many steps back. Rear brakes were grabby, so pulled the rear drums to do...

How much clearnce between cab and cabover camper?

Yes & No (I hear the crowd GASP already!) The flat bed is not - however the design (open C-channel rails) is very flexible, so it flexes with the truck. Camper is mounted on a rubber mat, there are now side box frames under the "wings", and am aware that twisty off road use will require the...

    post your flat bed pics!

Yes - 90 TBI 454 4x4. It has a 11.5 Bigfoot going on the flatbed. Truck is dedicated to the camper, never plan to use it seperatly. Not a fan of the stinger extensions - this extension ties into the rear truck rails and flatbed rails. Very strong, multiple attachment point vs cantilevered off...

    F 450 flatbed camper build

Used to have a Dodge 3500 chassis cab (a derated 4500) - when pulling the toy hauler, there was about a 1/2" gap between the overload and the stop, so on bumps it had the overload slap. My plan was to install the Stable loads on the upper stop to add a little rear lift and help the loaded ride...
