10th Generation F-150 Overland build (The Craptor)

Overall I'm happy with the setup, I think the next thing I'd like to do is cut the roof on the topper and make it hinge up. The added head room would really be a gamechanger, and make the space even more usable.

It's one of the cheaper ebay "600lb capacity" racks. So far its been fine with a lighter bike, but I wouldn't put anything heavier than 300lbs on it.

Yes it's a bit of a pain, but you install the box with the battery in it. I put caps on my connections to avoid any arcing.

    2007 KLX-250S Lightweight ADV/DS

While riding at highway speeds, I noticed a bit of clutch slippage when passing. After researching, I found that this is a common issue with the 351cc Big Bore kit. To remedy this, I utilized KX125 friction plates. The KX125 plates have significantly more material, and are grippier overall...

Today's mod revolved around adding a little more comfort and control. The factory foot pegs are miserably small. So I made the switch to some IMS pegs! They feel much more secure underfoot, and greatly reduce the pressure point feeling in my boots.

Another shakedown run was done today after the Clarke tank was installed. It was a nice day to do some back road exploring.

Today I anchored the shifter and rear brake pedals. This should greatly reduce pedal damage, and help keep sticks out from between them and the case.

My Trailtech temperature sensor is now installed in the port provided on the Thermobob 2. This gives me a rapid reading of water temp exiting the engine, allowing me to catch a major issue earlier than the warning light would provide. The small display fit neatly on the albeit cluttered...

Front tire mounted and balanced - ✔️ They should hook up much better than the Shinko 700s in the dirt!

They're a great tire! They are pretty heavy though, so they may slow your 230L down noticeably.

Next, I mounted up the Motoz and balanced it out. If you're considering this Mountain Hybrid on a KLX250S, I recommend the 110-100/18. There's clearance, but not a much extra.

While the rear wheel was off, I figured I may as well pull the swingarm and grease all the bearings. I'm very glad I did, as they were effectively dry! A liberal coating of grease will certainly make them last much longer.

    2007 KLX-250S Lightweight ADV/DS

I decided on more aggressive DOT tire, as the Shinko 700s were a bit milder than I wanted. My type of riding is typically slower paced, and my skill set is admittedly not the best off road. I really liked the MT43 on my XT350, so I decided to try out these Motoz Mountain Hybrids. Much like...

I agree too, I can't imagine repeatedly picking up a big ADV monster trailside. I really wish a Japanese manufacturer would make a 400cc EFI machine with a 6 speed gear box, it'd be a great seller for this type of riding.

I went with a Precision Motorcycle rack as I needed a place to strap my dry bag. This rack is also predrilled for a rotopax mount, which may come in handy later.

I wired in a separate relay with its own fuse to power my add on accessories. I prefer to not add these circuits on to the bikes stock system, as its easy to overload them and cause reliability issues. The trigger wire for the relay coil is tied in to key switch power, and will keep me from...

I looked into the Acerbis tank, but wasn't overly fond with how it looked but I could certainly see how it'd protect the radiators! I may redo the seat at some point to make it a bit more comfortable, as currently it rivals a 2x4" in cushion.

    2007 KLX-250S Lightweight ADV/DS

A set of Acerbis handguards went on today to protect my digits/levers, and they look quite nice to boot. My luggage is also mounted to test fit all my attachment points. I'm quite fond of the Nelson Rigg gear, and they all fit quite well on the KLX without hindering my ability to ride the...

    2007 KLX-250S Lightweight ADV/DS

The factory cooling system on the KLX250S is very effective at shedding the heat from the modest power output, almost too effectively. Kawasaki's blunder, in my opinion, was a lack of a thermostat bypass loop. A thermostat bypass loop serves to maintain coolant flow in the engine against a stuck...

The problematic automatic cam chain tensioner was ditched in favor of the Kreiger manual chain tensioner.
