    Panel Air Gap Question.

I know that mounting with out an air gap reduces efficiency. My bigger concern for my planned set up is the heat. How hot will a panel get? I am planning on attaching a 100w flexible panel to the top of my hard shell RTT. In my research I ran across a panel review that complained about a...

    Diy Heavy Duty Drawer/Bed Slides.

It's been done a million different ways, everything I used was readily available at Home Depot aside from the bearings, which were on Amazon a ten pack for $16 the important measurement is O.D 1 3/8 inch. Rails are uni-strut/ super-strut found in the electrical aisle, $40 for a ten foot piece...

    Dumb Idea?

Thanks Rando, that's the kind of info I figured I was missing. I knew there had to be some catch or it would have been done by now. Sent from my moto e6 (XT2005DL) using Tapatalk

    Dumb Idea?

That was kind of my reasoning for using the charge controller my thought was it would limit the amp draw to keep me out of trouble. I don't draw a lot of power off my house battery just a few lights and charging small electronics, I just want to keep it topped off, so I don't need a heavy duty...

    Dumb Idea?

The theory makes sense, but why does every one use isolators and all the other fancy hardware?

    Dumb Idea?

Thanks for the info. I figured the charge controller would limit the current to the aux battery, but I was alright with that. Had not considered the current protection issue. Thanks.

    Dumb Idea?

I have cheap solar charge controller left over from another project, and a deep cycle marine battery. Is there any reason I couldn't / shouldn't run an ignition switched feed to the input side of the controller to give me a simple dual battery set up for my rig? The controller doesn't care...

Trailer and RTT or an enclosed camper?

If it's just about comfort and you want to keep it cheap, get a big tent and spend your budget on air mattresses and/or cots. I ran a trailer for a year or two, but I found it to be a pain in the butt when we wandered off of the pavement.

Which if any overland platform/vehicle sounds like it fits my needs&wants?

I run 32s on my DD/adventure rig. If you are not rock crawling gianormous tires might not be necessary.

Things to hate about a 2020 Tacoma...

Just got back from a 5k road trip with my 2019. I am 6'6 so everytime we switched drivers and she messed with my seat it took me 20 miles to find the sweet spot again.

    Tire and pressure advice

For off road I deflate to 26psi because my tire pressure sensor warning will stay on for anything under 25psi. As much of a pain the TPS can be, its nice to have your dash light up when your tire fails because you might notice a slow leak right away. I would not run different front and back...

Some decent Plano totes at Home Depot

The 56qt will fit 3 metal 50cal ammo cans like it was built for it. Great for organizing smaller items.

Best adhesive to mount solar panels with?

I used 3m VHB and Gorilla Tape for a my solar panel. Went across the US and back no problem, but I did not get any style points for it.

    Tepui Spare Parts

I ran across a really good deal for a used Tepui Kukeman. A couple of minor cosmetic issues I am willing to overlook for the price. The tent is about 5 years old and a "version 1" from a parts stand point is there anything significantly different from this older model vs a newer one? Sent from...

    Not quite a Diy RTT

My diy solution to a vehicle based shelter. I still need to fine tune the tarp but the concept is sound. Is it practical? I dunno... Sent from my moto e5 (XT1920DL) using Tapatalk

    DIY rtt or flippac style

Hexayurt is another shelter project that comes to mind when considering a dome. I have been kicking around in my head a RTT built around a coroplast folding hexayurt. Still in the dumb idea phase but I will throw out there for dome one else to kick around. Sent from my moto e5 (XT1920DL) using...

    Epoxy over canvas siding?

Biggest problem with coroplast is nothing sticks to it. Gorilla tape held decent enough, but I used to seal seams I doubt structurally it would hold long term. I doubt tight bond would hold either. Staples would attach canvas pretty nicely. That being said coroplast on it's own is weather proof...

    Epoxy over canvas siding?

http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=70355 I used 3/4 emt conduit for the frame. I had contemplated PVC for the frame but my concern was that in cold temps PVC shatters so catastrophic failure seemed more probable. 3/4 emt conduit is cheap and held up great. Sent from my moto e5...

    Epoxy over canvas siding?

I was looking at using coroplast for a "skin" but I was going to apply it more as plating in impact areas and not as a sealed outer shell. Foam is water resistant so the only thing I was worrying about is impact resistance. My experiments with PFG over foam was that it certainly helped with...
