Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

I usually just leave it up at night. If you remove it, some of the tent material might tend to hang down into the bed area when closed, inhibiting access during the day. I don't have the short pad up there though, I've repurposed it into a bench down below.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Rin - any dimensions and/or diagrams on the new water tank? Particularly trying to determine depth - how much it will hang forward of the rail and also would like to know the positioning of the (4) 1/2" ports. Description indicates (4) ports, but the photos seem to show a fill cap in upper...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

23.5"x50"x3" - Here is how I have mine set up in a Tacoma 6' bed extended cab. Plywood w/ cleats over milk crates for storage.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Could you rotate it 90 degrees and place it more or less over the hinge? That way you wouldn't be lifting the water much and the outlet would still be pretty much over the shower enclosure. Would increase aerodynamic drag though

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Any details on the water tank? I may make some changes to my current setup, but interested in specs/dimensions as I might go this route. Might as well plan my updates to accomodate that option. Great to hear on the Dickenson too - looking forward to that!!

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

We have the Megamat Duo (4") in ours. Extremely comfy, I can only imagine what the 6" is like, though probably not necessary - the 4" is more comfortable than our regular bed. It overhangs the main platform by about an inch which means you need to pull the edge of the mattress back if opening...

Pretty slick using exhaust components for that... I look forward to hearing more about it...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Hey Rin - I was admiring this setup and couldn't help but notice what looks like a Dickinson Marine wood burner in the rear passenger corner (very left side of image). Any scoop and more images on that?

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Exped Megamat Duo - have had this for a few years now and love it. I've slept on a lot of camping mattresses and nothing comes close to this for comfort. As I'm getting older, I likes my comfort... It fits almost perfectly in the canopy camper - snug to the sides and extends about an inch and...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Been meaning to post some better pics, but here's a quick shot of the current layout. Nothing fancy, but working well for my purposes - basically non-overlanding camping use and as a base camp for trail running & orienteering adventures. Also 3 business trips to the DC area on the cheap...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Keyne - I just got mine fitted a couple weeks ago - I'm in eastern CT if you want to see one in person. Not sure what part of Mass you're in...

Rin - what's being used as a floor that the gear is secured to? I'm tossing around a few ideas for securing gear but curious what this system is...

Tent Bed Options for Sleeping Together

Nemo Tango Duo on an Exped Megamat Duo - I've spent years backpacking on minimal pads, but if car camping this combo is awesome. No problems to date with durability. Sleep better on this combo that at home in bed. But its not cheap and it is bulky.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

You're right, it is a ranger. My mistake. But it is the short bed version of the camper, so other than the rear panel I think it should be mostly the same?

Pretty sure this video is on a SB Tacoma.

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

My notes from looking at the demo model at OK4WD in November say 36" wide and 40.5" high on the rear door of the canopy camper. Since I have a long bed, I'm planning on putting the bikes (2) in the camper when not actually camping since most gear will be readily accessible via the side doors...

Camper shell with swing open doors: Opinions

The new Alu-Cab Canopy Camper also has a barn door style rear. A more extensive rig than the ones shown above, but tossing it out there for those that haven't seen it yet..

Alu-Cab Has Landed In The USA!

Are you using the regular Megamat or the Megamat Duo? I'm seriously considering the canopy camper and the stated bed dimensions are just a hair wider than the width of the Duo - curious how much wiggle room there is or if the sides are tight when closing...
