4 Weeks - Wyoming, Alberta, U.S. Pacific Coast

I edited the OP to try to make the link more visible, but the styling this site uses really kind of hides links

4 Weeks - Wyoming, Alberta, U.S. Pacific Coast

Yeah, that's really what I encountered--both in Wyoming and in Alberta. Wyoming I'm super familiar with; Alberta was new to me this year. Weird year.

4 Weeks - Wyoming, Alberta, U.S. Pacific Coast

Recently back from four weeks living out of my 4Runner in Wyoming, Alberta & on the U.S. Pacific Coast. Was planned for more like 6 weeks, but (a) the wildlife was pretty scarce in Wyoming & Alberta, (b) there were too damn many people, and (c) turns out that boondocking along the PCH is pretty...

Gas prices & a few grizzly bears...

Ouch!!! And all the more ironic given how much Idahoans love to hate on California! Nice gas prices, Idaho. :)

very cute!! You just want to bring one home with you. Which, of course, would be the last mistake you ever made!

Gas prices & a few grizzly bears...

yes. I shot mostly a 500 with 1.4TC, so at 700mm. I also carried a second camera with a 200-500 for when stuff was too close for 700. About 90% of my shots were with the first camera. If memory serves, that third photo is at 700 and uncropped… so much closer… and also not inside GTNP…

Gas prices & a few grizzly bears...

If you're asking about how far away I was in the first photo... it's hard to say. I don't carry a rangefinder. That photo was taken within Grand Teton National Park, which has a regulation that you cannot get within 100 yards of grizzlies and wolves. So officially my answer is 100 yards...

Gas prices & a few grizzly bears...

I'm recently back from a month-long trip to the Jackson Hole area in Wyoming--living out of my 4Runner and photographing mostly grizzly bears. I just finished doing all my accounting for trip, so thought I'd share an interesting comparison... and a few grizzly bear photos, because it can't all...

WFNH: Working from Not Home... Wyoming, then... ??

Realizing that I never came back here and posted after the trip. The trip ended up being 5 weeks--about half in/around Jackson Hole, a brief run through Idaho, a bit over a week around Flathead Lake, Montana, and up into Glacier NP, then just under a week in & outside Bryce Canyon NP. Had my...

WFNH: Working from Not Home... Wyoming, then... ??

Quick update from southern Utah, after about 10 days in Montana... I expect to be headed home this weekend... a week earlier than planned, but it's supposed to be +/- 100 degrees pretty much everywhere next week and I don't feel like dying from heat stroke in my little screened gazebo (which...

WFNH: Working from Not Home... Wyoming, then... ??

Yesterday I also shipped a box of cold-weather items back home to San Diego--just because the 4Runner is so packed to the gills and I desperately need every little bit of space that I can make. So I shipped a down comforter, a fleece blanket, a fleece jacket, and a few other items home. So...

WFNH: Working from Not Home... Wyoming, then... ??

For anyone following the disaster of a Jackery thread elsewhere in this forum (and love of god please don't start up here), my replacement Jackery finally arrived and I picked it up yesterday... along with another replacement for a necessary piece of equipment for my travels, so I'm departing...

WFNH: Working from Not Home... Wyoming, then... ??

Can I just say that global warming, or whatever the heck is going on, just sucks? I'm supposed to be headed to near Flathead Lake in Montana over the weekend... where is should be about 70 degrees this time of year... but the forecast for Monday is 90 degrees. And it's been pretty hot here in...

    Warning re Jackery product quality/design

Sure, so... if it's a $50 item you say "my bad" and buy a new one... If it's a $500 item and smashed all to hell, you say "my bad" and buy a new one... If it's a $500 item with zero visible damage, don't you want the opportunity to pay someone to fix it???
