    Hypothetical F250 build

Getting sick of driving the Transit 250 MR LWB all the time. Not that it isn't amazingly useful, but it's bad on gas (still better than an E series) terrible in the winter (still better than an E series) and underpowered (still better than an E series) With today's bizarre world of sky high...

    Is your new F150 stolen??

https://news.yahoo.com/stolen-ford-f-150s-sold-153545123.html This article blew my mind, but then again, giant corporations with no liability are prone to not ******. I feel bad for all of the victims here.

    WK2 slip on towing mirrors

I had a set of CIPA slip on towing mirrors for my F150 that looked decent and worked great. Now that my wife's WK2 is the tow vehicle, I'm trying to find something similar for it. Anyone have suggestions? Or am I stuck getting the generic clamp on mirrors?

Maybe it's the excessive price tags

Came across this article today https://www.thedrive.com/news/jeep-dealers-have-enough-renegades-on-hand-to-last-2-years Considering a Cherokee Trailhawk with the luxury package is 58K CAD locally and they don't want to deal, might have something to do with it. Same thing with the Ram 1500...

New Gen Tundra front recovery points

I'd never thought I'd see the day a new Tundra is cheaper than domestic trucks I want to buy equipped a certain way, but the day is here. (Not that I can find any of these trucks in physical form) If I'm willing to eat the small has tank, the only thing I'm missing is front tow hooks from my...

    Service intervals.

Admin, feel free to move this to fireside chat if you think it belongs there. What are the intervals people on this forum are using for service on modern vehicles? (Last 15 years) Do you follow the OEM general service interval? Severe/commercial service? When the vehicle tells you to? Something...

Why are most aftermarket wheels so BroDozer?

OEM wheel on my F150 is 17x7.5 +44. I'm trying to find aftermarket wheels: a) without fake beadlocks b) that aren't hideous, c) that have a positive offset of +20 or +25 or 30 etc, d) aren't wider than 8.5. e) aren't black What's with all the 0 offset 9" wide wheels? Is it because everyone loves...

285/70R17 or similar "33 inch" pure winter tire

Anyone running an actual winter tire in 33"? Preferably on a 17" rim? My 4 year old KO2s are just brutal and I'm about ready to buy dedicated winters. Nothing coming up on tire rack with the 285/70R17 size for true winters, just all the usual winter rated all terrains and I'm about done with that.

How did Voyagers/HBC Outfitters do it?

How did the classic Voyagers, Hudson's Bay company Outfitters, cowboys, gold miners etc all manage this lifestyle with the technology of their era? Specifically I refer to the wool blanket. For a natural fiber, wool seems to check the boxes. Durable, moisture resistant, flame resistant...

Anyone running a Chevy custom Trail Boss?

Anyone here running a Chevy double cab Custom Trail Boss? They are the only truck locally that starts under 50k with the options I want. In fact you seem to be able to get them around 40k. 5.3, tow package, small lift and AT tires. Six speed, locker in the rear, and no chrome! Of course there...

    The Escape 19

Our fiberglass monocoque trailer is completed and thanks to insane Covid restrictions I had to have it shipped here. It's on the truck now on its way from BC to MB. I originally wanted the shorter 17A model, which also lacks a bathroom. My wife overruled me. We wanted a trailer we could use for...

    Ford Explorer Timberline

Anyone hear about this? Different front facsia, small light, skid plates etc. Just came across my feed. Still rated to tow 5000#. Might be a good mild set up you can daily drive. I haven't checked to see if they got the quality control locked down for the new Explorers yet, but it's a moot point...

    Just another tire thread!!

Trying to plan in advance, due to shortages caused by C19, and the fact new vehicles require a mortgage to afford. I'm looking for dedicated winter tires for my current '14 F150. In a true 33" size, as narrow as possible. I'm alright with E rating. I'd like to keep these tires for the eventual...

    275/70R18 and 34x10.5R17

In these two tire sizes, real life diameter are very close in the BFG KO2S. Considering how small the 34s run, I was surprised to see this. (Buddy at a tire shop had one in stock and we compared it next to my worn 34x10.5R17s) There isn't much or any pure winter tires in the oddball size I wish...

Thoughts on this trailer power system.

We have a new trailer being built. I have selected dual 6v lead acid batteries, and the single factory 190w solar panel flat mounted on the roof, well aware of the limits of a permanent flat mounted panel. Mostly it's there for charging while driving, which can be 8-16 hours in a day. It also...

    Nokian Rotiva AT

Is there anyone who have used other 3 peak Mountain Snowflake rated all terrain tires who have also used the Rotiva ATs? Are these Nokians better on icey and slushy roads than the competition (even if at the expense of other terrain performance like mud)?

Recommendations for portable solar charging system

My wife and I have placed a deposit for an Escape Trailers model 19. (Placed a build slot deposit, trailer will not start production until March) https://escapetrailer.com/the-19-foot-escape/ They have several options for batteries and solar. The factory solar panel is 190w and flat mounted to...

    Birthday gun for myself.

What better way to spoil myself for my birthday than a new lever gun? I'm really jonesing for a Chiappa Alaskan take down in 12" barrel, but am unsure on what calibre. .357 is affordable and I can shoot .38 for fun. Or do I go .44 rem mag for utility? (6.6 lbs and 24" OAL) The .357 isn't on...
