    The $3,000 Sportsmobile project

Ok haven’t had any updates, winter came early and not having a shop yet at our new place means everything is weather dependent and likely meaning that I m waiting till spring unless I pay a shop to do some of the work. I finally got the wheels swapped with the new wheels and tires today. We have...

    The $3,000 Sportsmobile project

Hansk, that is super helpful. Interesting point on the rotors triggering the wobble, I could see that being part of my issue. It happens under braking in very specific circumstances but basically between the old worn tires and the rotors it probably hits just the right resonant frequency and...

    The $3,000 Sportsmobile project

Ok so winter came in a big way here already... since we just moved here this summer I have been building some outbuildings and planning to build a barn and shop in the spring. In the meantime I am stuck with no indoor place to work on stuff. That means I am probably just going to take the van to...

    The $3,000 Sportsmobile project

Ok, that makes sense as the list I received from Wuigly stated the the D60 was from an 86 Chevy K30 application though right after that they state that I need their specific rotors for the front. Will investigate that part number. Much appreciated!

    The $3,000 Sportsmobile project

So I think from sitting the rotors got very pitted, I am planning to replace them all but I wasn’t getting the brake pulsing of warped rotors. It was more like if I was decelerating at over 55 mph and I applied the brakes lightly it would induce some good shaking in the front end and steering...

    The $3,000 Sportsmobile project

Yep, from the original owner. He’s a good buddy and just replaced it with a Winnebago Revo. He took this thing all over the place including Alaska multiple times and various forays into Mexico. Hoping to dial it in so our family of 5 can make it work.

    The $3,000 Sportsmobile project

Yeah, I am going to try to source replacement doors to start and I have a lead on a local guy who might be willing to tackle the rockers on it. Not looking to make it perfect but I detest rust.... goal is sto get it mechanically sound and presentable, might get the bodywork done, get it into...

Thanks, yeah good call, I guess there are some new sub forums I need to check out. I have been browsing the Sportsmobile forum for info already, still need to register and become a member. Just starting the research phase of this whole thing. Our 4wd travel rugs have always been pretty simple...

    The $3,000 Sportsmobile project

Long time Expo member but have been on hiatus for a few years and doing a bit of a soft reentry. As the title states I just picked up a 2000 7.3 Sportsmobile with a Quigley Conversion, penthouse top and RB50 layout. It has 140,000 miles on the clock, and needs a bit of love. The known issues...

Going domestic, project vanilla aka the family tankster, 2004 Suburban 2500

Ah cool, glad to see Photobucket did the right thing. I haven’t been on Expo at all really this year so I hadn’t noticed the images were back.

Going domestic, project vanilla aka the family tankster, 2004 Suburban 2500

Hey quick question, are people seeing my photobucket linked images in this thread? When PB changed their share policies they all disappeared but now they seem to be showing up. Is it just me or do you guys see the images again? I was feeling a bit put out having posted so many pictures a written...

Going domestic, project vanilla aka the family tankster, 2004 Suburban 2500

Ah man, not too much to report. The burb has been a bit neglected this year. We jumped into sailing pretty hard and bought a bigger boat this spring that I spent every available moment working on and once in the water, sailing. I hauled it up from southern MI to the UP with the Suburban and it...

Advice Needed:: Tacoma owner considering a ZR2

That's my typing a novel from my phone, my bad. And just to clarify, not bashing anyone for being a fan of a particular marque, everyone is entitled to that, more or less saying, some portrayals are highly blown up. Especially on vehicle based forums, the good and the bad get inflated. It's...

Advice Needed:: Tacoma owner considering a ZR2

Gotta love all the arm chair quarter backing that goes on in these threads. I am not here to do that but I will give some experience I have had regarding the virtues of the baby Duramax. We bought an LT trimmed crew cab long bed as a do everything vehicle to replace my wife's Outback. She wanted...

    Why so few GM Builds?

I have a Duramax Colorado long bed. 6'2" long and a relatively deep bed that's pretty useful for its size. Love this truck, total road trip machine and it tows really well for its size. 30mpg is a nice plus too.

Excursion vs. (???) for family expeditions?

The balls would be for a sway control system, where as the long bars that attach underneath the hitch are the actual weight distribution hardware. I haven't needed to go with sway control for any reason but I know you have to unhook it when you are back the trailer up so it sounds like a bit of...

Excursion vs. (???) for family expeditions?

I think that price is pretty reasonable given the age, mileage and rarity of that vintage 2500. We have a weight distributing hitch that we use when towing it with our Colorado Duramax and I use the hitch itself on the Burb but not with the torsion springs or anything hooked up. With the trailer...

Excursion vs. (???) for family expeditions?

Wow congrats! Great choice. When and if our 2004 ever gets used up we will probably hunt one of these down. My only beef is that the interior space and specifically height got shrunk a little on the 900's. also, bring that you live in similar winter conditions as I do in the UP I would recommend...
