I thought the pulley would separate from the gear. You loosen the tbelt and then remove the pulley and gear together?
Thanks for the advice. Crank seal is on the list!
Finally getting into the real work. With some trials and tribulations I've gotten most of the way to the timing belt and will be doing most of the other front of engine stuff too. I built the bar stock tool and got the crankshaft bolt out. Hoping to get some insight on a couple things.
How do...
My first car was a 68 Satellite. The manual drum brakes were a little scary. I liked driving through parking structures and setting off all the alarms.

I'll be following this as my steering wheel is off ~45° with a noticeably reduced turning radius to the right. Saw somewhere to detach the steering shaft from the box fix and reattach, but maybe it'll be more complicated.

Thanks guys. @socalnative I had the hometown jump on you, but I've seen a few down your way if you're in Socal.
It's hardly perfect, but it was cheap. Definitely a candidate for some sort of paint job ;-)

I found a local 1998 Winter package with 149,XXX miles and bought it. Hardest part is going to be not driving much before I get to the front end of the engine.
To do:
-Clean it
-Door lock actuator
-Correct steering wheel rotation
-Feather peeling clear coat and wax
-Find cold start problem...
Thanks all. Unfortunately, I had to pass because it was 700 mi away. It's on Portland OR Craigslist if anyone else wants a look (I can't seem to post links).
The irony is that it lived it's whole life in my city and only moved away a year. Haha. I'll keep looking.
Thanks guys. No maintenance history other than timing belt, tensioner, pullies, HG, plugs and wires, and thermostat about a year ago.
No rust, and seems to run well and looks good, but I'm not sure...
I'm on the hunt and have narrowed it down to a gen 2.5 for large family adventure duties. I've found what looks like a nice clean 98 with winter package. But, it has 220k mi. $2200. Is that too high to be worth it? Can't decide if I should talk myself into it or out of it.
