Opinions on Ram 2500 wheel and tire options 285's vs 255's; Baja Boss vs something less aggressive

Struggling with this decision on my 2021 Ram 2500. I currently have a set of AEV Saltas with 287/75R17 but need a new set of tires (BFG AT's now) and I don't love how they sit, very slightly, outside the fenders, I guess I am getting old: Option #1: AEV Saltas + Baja Boss 255/85R17's >~35"...

Ram Hemi guys; fuel tank capacity woes

I have a 2021 RAM 2500 w/6.4 Hemi....I get fuel light right at 26 gallons, is it that conservative? As far as I know it's a 31 gallon tank but have been scared to push too deep after fuel light is on and a negative needle, but in theory I have an extra 5 gallons / 50+ miles. Common?

    IG: Detailed Axle Spec Information

Posting this as it's own thread since there are several sub-threads this discussion keeps getting lost in, for folks not interested, no need to discuss since this seems to be a trigger for some. The IG forum has it's own sub-forum for this but very very little information there. So inquiring...

    LX600 vs GX550; opinions

We are still debating these rigs - but a current MY LX600 or wait for a GX550, name on list, wait a year. Anybody have any insight or thought through this same scenario?

IG 'Service' Center Location / Discussion

This got a bit buried in another thread but I thought it was relevant and good data: Partnerships with local dealerships / auto groups based on the IG website and looking up addresses: Portland - Maserati Dealership Seattle - looks to open commercial space - IG specific? Boise - Porsche...

    Tundra vs LC200 Parts Commonality

Any thoughts on this: https://expeditionportal.com/2008-toyota-tundra-trd-off-road-overland-build-rear-suspension-gears-and-arb-air-locker/ "Additionally, we wanted to drive something that had support in many parts of the world" Is this the case on Tundra vs LC200? I know they share...

How the Bronco compares to a LC70/Prado; practically

So hear me out. I'll preface by saying no, they not built to the same duty cycle or build standard - which I don't think most people need, generally speaking. I think a modest built 2.3 Bronco compares well, especially to the 2 door LC70 variants..... Transmission: Both manual Both with...

I think new Expeditions need a bit more love?

Just read through the landing page article about the Redtail Skyloft on the Expo.....cool rig! I know you can get them with the HD rear axles that come on the F150 HDPP.....underrated, IMO and looks great with what looks to be 35's...

Diff upgrades for late model 2020+ Ram 2500/3500

What options are out there for the late model trucks like my 2021 2500.....tru-trac, ARB, factory e-lock, etc? Seems like there were some changes made to rear axle from 2019 that the market is still trying to catch up with?

Gas vs Diesel Shootout in the Dunes & Sand

I do a fair amount of driving in the sand....fair amount of dune driving also. The majority of my time has been spent in gas rigs with the rights setup, and have had good luck with all my rigs; FJ40's, Tacomas, 19' Ranger, 22' Ram 2500. One thing I did notice the other day when I was out...

Simple rims for modern full size trucks?

Trying to find a nice clean reasonably priced option for my 2021 Ram 2500. Planning on running a sim size tire to stock 33.5 to 34 and a sim width 285 vs 275, so need it to be a sim spec to stock. I really like the look of the AEV Salta and maybe it's just me, but the exposed bolts for the...

Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi Fuel Range / Tank Size Question

So an interesting observation, wondering if anybody has run into this. As far as I know the full size Dodge 2500's w/6.4 Hemi come with a 31 gal tank, I get pretty good mileage in the 16-18 mpg range but I'm on Empty in the red at about 26 gallons! Does dodge have a 5 gallon reserve on these...

Modern EV Torque Values vs Petroleum

I've seen some healthy torque numbers thrown around, the Hummer being the most recent at 11,500 ft-lbs max! How is that measured? At motor or at wheels? For instant, modern Ford 7.3 w/475 ft-lbs, lets assume half of that is available around ~2k RPM, lets call it 240 ft-lbs. Trans 1st; 4.7:1...

2021 F150 Towing Capacity Increase on some models

One of things holding me back on jumping into the F150 was wanting a 2.7 but it (for some reason) always had a lousy towing capacity relative to the others. I have a 5000 lb trailer but always wanted to option of upgrading to a larger heavier unit. In previous years max towing was 8100, looks...

    Electric Truck with std. drivetrain?

Always thought this would be an interesting "Hybrid" solution. Std axles, std. manual or auto trans throw out the ICE and slap a EV motor up to the input shaft of the trans, which may end up being motor + planetary reduction unit to get it to work with the ICE drivetrain. Adds complexity for...

5th Gen Ranger Discussions / Reviews / News

Figured I'd try an consolidate some of the discussion.... I have about 13k on my 2019 so far, still really enjoying the truck. I have some 32" BFG's AT's on it and just threw on some 235/85's for the winter. Just took a trip from Portland, OR to Bend, OR, net elevation gain there (500' to...

New 2018 Audi SQ5; under the radar

So - the older Allroad got a lot of love around here, Quattro, "sporty" and of course had air-ride adjustable suspension....all of which the new 2018 SQ5 has/can be equipped with, plus more room inside. Granted it's a $57-65k rig but think it's a pretty slick option for light expo-work, road...

    Reparability vs Reliability Opinions

This is a question I have been wondering about for quite some time. All things being equal, which do you pick? Obviously both is the answer, but generally speaking as one goes up the other goes down. I supposed Diesels are an exception to the rule, the older ones, but not the newer crop of...

    Very cool 'expo' Hilux

I was watching a show on the public broadcasting network a month or so back and they had a very interesting show about some desert lions. As interesting as the lions were, I was super interested in the old Hilux the fella was driving around. It was an absolutely beat early 80's long bed...
