Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

That is crazy durability, lol. I'm going to wait for indelB to respond on Monday. I told them what happened with the MT46 and asked for another vendor/distributor in the USA. If they don't have any options for me then I think it will be the Engel MT45. Thanks!!

That sounds promising and a big endorsement to Engel. I'm thinking hard about buying one and maybe upping the budget a little more for the National Luna NL 40, but that one might be harder to buy. I see now that Engel has a free shipping option. The steel Engel MT45 looks sharp and the design...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

Well, I'm not so sure about ICECO as they have a lot of shipping damage complaints and just as many unresponsive customer service complaints so even waiting for them to get the VL45 in stock will be a gamble. So I'm going to up my budget and started looking at Engel coolers. The MR040 shown...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

The older Dometics sound good but I need a bit bigger size then those. Somewhere in the 40L range. I was pretty set on the metal look, insulation thickness and durability of the TB46. ICECO pushed out their stock ETA for the VL45 to the end of the month so it looks like they are having stock...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

Yesterday I emailed indelB to ask for the manual and to verify (Edited by Admin - language Warning) are an authorized seller. They responded with the manual quickly. So now I'm asking where else I can buy from. I don't want to buy a knock-off of a knock-off. I want the first level knock-off, lol.

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

Well, they are blaming me for it. Somehow it is my fault. Apparently thier website allows people to select free shipping on items that don't have free shipping. Then they blame me like I did it wrong, lol. They flat out refused to do anything except refund my money. But then they couldn't do the...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

TruckFridge sent an email this morning and they said I selected the wrong option and there is no free shipping and want an extra $100. They put free shipping right on the checkout for me to select, lol.

Ha-ha, I've been cheap for too long. It was time to pony-up.

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

ICECO didn't respond so I ordered the IndelB TB46 from TruckFridge. I didn't get charged sales tax nor any shipping fee so I'm stoked about that. I entered an expired promo code I found online as a longshot. The worst that could happen is they ignore it, lol. The TB46 must be pretty beefy...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

ICECO finally picked up. Initially, defects under warranty were handled by me shipping them the unit. But after saying that I can't overland full-time with an empty refer box she said they could ship me a replacement first as an exception. So they have TruckFridge beat on the warranty. Their...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

I discovered after scrolling past the red sales font on the truckfridge site that they offer a metal refer that competes with the ICECO. I called truckfridge up this morning and found the metal one (TB46) is better insulated than the TB41A. The insulation is thicker by 1/4" and the walls are...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

I came across the ICECO brand and their VL45 offering is looking more attractive than the truckfridge TB41A. It has a metal case, an online manual, a stronger warranty and it can operate at a 40* angle. The truckfridge costs a bit more and I'm curious which brand is better? I'm thinking a metal...

How loud is National Luna Legacy Fridge? Vs Dometic CFX3?

Indeed, it would fit a lot of steak too :D

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

Yeah, I did get confused after the +/- 1 or 2*, but either way the two individually temperature controlled compartments is what I was referring to. With that configuration the frozen steaks will last longer than the others in the refer which would stretch out the time span of having to go into...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

The dual zone is super attractive and one attribute that lead me into the $1k price range or nothing mistake. Since I'm a full-time overlander and I don't start my trip from home anymore, being able to have both frozen and thawed meat would be ideal. I'm trying to pick the right size refer now...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

There isn't a secret steak lore, but there is a secret society of full-time overlanders loving every minute of it. Outside of campgrounds and in the deserts during winter and forests during summer all throughout the Western USA. The ice maker is a good idea. Carrying the ice-chest full (50 lbs)...

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

Awesome, thanks for the help! I estimated that at least $208 per year is what I spend on ice. I never added ice costs up until now. About $4 per week and the TB41A would pay for itself in about 2.5 years. Plus I won't have a hard time finding ice on/near a holiday, like last Easter lol.

Cooler mods: Has anyone done the foam mod?

The refer suggestion is what I should be doing. I did some searching here and found the truckfridge might be a good option since they have a portable model and it is said that it uses the Danfoss compressor that the high end refers user. It is an Italian brand (as are my Zamberland boots). I...
