    Calling all suspension geeks.

So I did a little experimenting with felling wedges between my overload springs and main leaf springs, kind of a poor mans stable-load. The work pretty damn good really... the ride has stiffened up a lot and I get no real wobble or sway when a front wheel drops into a hole when I’m leaning on a...

So I finally had the truck weighed yesterday. My 99 F350 extra cab with an Alaskan with 27 gallons of water in it, full tank of gas, plus about 75% of the gear I want to carry and two people weighed 9930lbs.... my GVWR is 9900 Split 4400lbs front/ 5400lbs rear. That’s a bummer as I had...

The truck has stock sway bars on it now. I’m not sure new ones will make a difference as I’m told switching to after market ones makes very little difference.

So this might be a stupid question, but.......... how do you tell if your leaf springs are worn out?

I saw that, but do I get back my travel? Do I use the air bags as well?

I’m not really looking to spend 2 grand on springs and shocks. I’m hoping for a reasonable solution for hopefully well under a grand.

I I have a 99 F350 4x4 with an alaskan camper on a flatbed. It is bolted down and is a dedicated rig and will not be removed except for repair. While I haven’t weighed it yet I know the camper loaded, wet and gear weight is about 2500lbs give or take 200lbs. In the future with it totally built...

First road trip in my flatbed Alaskan camper build. Lots to go but it’s useable now. It did everything I wanted it to without a hiccup, and I have a plethora of fresh pinstripes for its christening.

So, flatbed is in and the camper is as well. I have forgone boxes on the sides and decided to go with one door covering the sides. At the moment they are half done as I only have time to pick at it. My gold is to have the largest usable space possible so I have flush riveted the plate to the...

99, F350.... unused space under cab.

This tank should fit under and give me 26 extra gallons of water but they are spendy. . A 54” long, 8” diameter PVC pipe will give me about 12 gallons each side as well. https://www.ntotank.com/13gallon-ronco-marine-water-tank-x4657738

99, F350.... unused space under cab.

So I have a 99, f350 extra cab 4x4. I was crawling under it yesterday and it dawned on me that there was a lot of unused space under the cab between the sides of the cab and the frame. My first thought was I could probably fit some 8” scedual 40 PVC “tanks‘“ down there, each about 5’ long...

    Under flatbed box questions.

ExpoMike...I was thinking about that. Mostly because one box would fit a lot better if a corner was cup off as the filler tube is in the way.

    Under flatbed box questions.

Hi all, ok flatbed on. I have come to the realization that most all under bed boxes are designed for DRW trucks and 8’ wide beds. Having a SRW, 7’ wide bed limits me to boxes that are basically about 14” deep as the leaf spring hangers get in the way. So the standard 18”x18” boxes won’t fit...

Thanks gentlemen. Just what I’ve been looking for. Flatbed goes on in February, camper is done in April I think. Boxes to follow.

    Under flatbed box questions.

Sweet! The owner of Alaskan campers had them draw them up and give him a quote. It was for one long box for an 8.5 foot flatbed with a shallow section for the wheel well swell on the camper, plus they had sort of short doors on the ends to clear the camper jack brackets that interfered with...

    Under flatbed box questions.

Hmmm... that’s not my experience. I looked at a bid for custom topside boxes for under an Alaskan camper that I’m getting and it was $5800 for a slightly nicer version than I can buy off the shelf for less that half that. I will ask them though.

Does anyone know if there is an off the shelf option for the triangle shaped under a flat bed box you mount behind the rear wheel For better departure angle clearance? Trying to avoid custom box costs. This would be for a 99 F350 long bed/flatbed . Also, is there a rule or any wise thoughts...

22/17 on the tires. I don’t thing they can be. They are threw bolted but the inside in bolts are buried so I was told you ether have them installed or not. No taking them off and on.

Do you think the 285/75/18’s will fit without a lift?
