How would you outfit this custom LJ?

This is such a great idea! It's one of the things that has kept me from getting this top. But, have you looked into adding some wiring to use the factory rear window heater/defroster?

    CB comparison

Are CB shops even a thing anymore?? I haven't seen one in probably 15 years...... They certainly don't exist where I live now.... For the JT I opted for the unidentified mini one that is similar to the Midland MX275 in that the controls are on the mic. I'm curious to see how well it will work...

    CB comparison

While a lot of the off road clubs mostly run GMRS, there are a few who still only have CB. But, CB is stilll critically important in my area as commercial entities run on it and its nice to be able to communicate with them as needed.

    Destination Unknown - a 1997 F350 build

In case anyone was wondering, I have started up a new thread on a different site. Mostly because there just aren't that many Jeeps here - but I may cross post in the Jeep section now and again. Good to see all the folks I used to interact with are still here and well!!! Nice progress...

    CB comparison

So I ended up ordering the Uniden CB and the Midland 275. The CB is WAY smaller than I anticipated! It's a good thing though as space in a Jeep is premium. If it works well enough I may order a second one for the TJ too I also took a chance and got this antenna to go with it...

I'm going to open this back up with a couple more questions. And also include a GMRS component instead of starting a new thread. Vehicle to be used - Jeep Gladiator with metal canopy CB Talk CB radio of choice - Uniden CMX760 https://www.rightchannelradios.com/products/uniden-off-road-cmx760...

Lets see your mobile on-board house/aux battery set-up's

I know there has been lots of discussion on the topic, but I finally have a direction - after all these years. After looking at some options, I think I have concluded that no current ready to go system (Jackery, goal zero, or equip mobile battery box) will suit my needs. So I probably will be...

    Destination Unknown - a 1997 F350 build

For those interested, here is the replacement. It is by far a vehicle that is much better suited for my personal needs. And honestly, I do not miss the OBS. Partly because I know it went to a good home. Already have plans for this new ride, and I am sure it will get me many years of...

    Destination Unknown - a 1997 F350 build

I have thought about that a lot lately. Trying to merge something I need and also would enjoy. Still need a truck to haul a trailer to fix up this house, but also need to get off the beaten path. Being as I'm single with no kids, will be opting for something smaller. I had considered a few...

    Destination Unknown - a 1997 F350 build

Well I am a little sad to say today that I have just sold the truck. Bittersweet no doubt. But it just does not suit my needs any longer with an aging body. The buyers seemed like good people, who will use the truck for what it was made for. I am happy it is going to a good family...

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

Wow fiber - interesting design choice. It will be interesting to see how longevity is with that. What did the harness and camera run you?

Time for a New Truck--MPG is a Priority

Have you considered the 3.5 as others suggested? I'm just curious - if 5 mpg difference is a deal breaker then is a truck really even the right vehicle?

utilizing 'open' power distribution and fuse panel spots options

I ended up tapping into the power key on circuit and running that to a relay which would switch on power availability to a under-hood distribution box. Still not as clean as I would have liked but sorta rushed the job some due to weather. Haven't found anyone able or willing to make a custom...

    IPad, iPhone and InReach

I prefer CalTopo to Gaia. It has most the same features but has better trip planing. You can run some basic GIS analysis (without having to use ArcMap) and get sun, shade, sunrise, sunset visibility analysis - even some pretty good weather analysis for specific locations. It does allow...
