Cot vs air mattress vs pad..

cot all the way, with a pad. i'll never go back to an air mattress. i have a regular width cot from cabelas. my brother has an XL. both plenty big to flop around. as you said, it's great to sit up and put on your shoes (little things), also you get all the "storage" under the cots.

The Map is Not the Territory: A Northern Maine Adventure

going north out of greenville, on lily bay road, look for prong pond road on your right. there are small black signs with a white plane on it marking the way. great report btw. we may have been up there fishing the penobscot (big eddy) around when you were there, last week of sept...

    Winter tires for my XJ

i have the same view on the AT's. the small voids fill up and just leave you spinning. best tire i've run is the interco trxus. lots of siping, biting edges and big voids. if they made them in a 33x10.5 for a 15" rim i'd never run another tire. currently have new KM2's. only one small...

    Winches and Rust

you're going to have to put some work into it to keep it in good order. i took apart my m8000 after one winter and it already had a rusty sludge in the gears. it amazes me when i read on forums people will freak out about greasing a $40 joint or steering piece, but wonder why their $600-1500...

I finally found my tent....I think

i just bought the tent last week and used it this past weekend. it wasn't a real "camping" trip, we visited friends that have a camp on a lake, and used the tent for sleeping only. easy setup: imo was easy. setup by myself. heavy duty poles. 4 for the tent, well marked sleeves, etc. one pole...

Finally getting my recovery gear together.

only thing i can offer is, being in rust country, that type of hook can be difficult to operate if left for a while.

    LL Bean

they have an outlet store in portland, hit or miss for what they carry, but can score some good deals. also the new cabela's in scarborough. as far as customer service, we returned a broken fly rod last year, and got a store credit for $125. they had to look up when the rod was bought, in...
