    RRC Ignition Coil Specs

I had a Pertronix for a while and the rotor wore out in less than 5K miles. Stopped dead in the middle of a trip. We eventually measured the electrode clearance and found that it had worn to the point where it didn't contact the cap. I have little faith in Pertronix now. If I were to go with...

Thoughts on Non-Land Rover axles on a Classic?

I would post this on Discoweb. Some others on there have had the same question.

Thoughts on Non-Land Rover axles on a Classic?

I don't think it would break if you use high strength aftermarket parts. The 6.2 diesel is not a powerhouse. It was built for better economy. It only has about 140 HP and 250 ft. lbs of torque. No more than a Rover V8. Plus you are running an auto trans which is easier on things.

How often do RRC's need head gaskets replaced

The rise of "lifetime" coolant, "lifetime" transmission fluid and ultra-high interval synthetic oil changes has had a misleading effect on maintenance philosophies. Part of the throw away society we've become.

If you wouldn't mind, please measure the primary resistance on the Bosch and Lucas coils when disconnected. I'd be interested to know the figures. Thanks, David

    RRC Ignition Coil Specs

I've found that they are very sensitive to having a stock coil as well. I converted one of my to a Pertronix coil, which was supposed to work with it, and it ran really rough. Put the stock coil back on and smooth. I tried an MSD coil on another and that was the same issue.

How often do RRC's need head gaskets replaced

The first ones here in the U.S. were EFI, the rest were carburetors.

How often do RRC's need head gaskets replaced

Yes. But they are more under stressed and pretty bulletproof by all accounts. Just not as much power.

I believe the resistance is .75 OHMS. Here are the pages from the factory manual:

How often do RRC's need head gaskets replaced

Maintenance history aside, the 3.9 and 4.2 are about equal. The 3.5 (87 and 88 in America) is the most reliable of all.

How often do RRC's need head gaskets replaced

Reasonable maintenance for such a venerable motor in my view. . . :)

How often do RRC's need head gaskets replaced

True. The earlier vehicles could probably benefit from a head gasket change every 150K or so. But many over that still run. The early Rover V8 is a pretty resilient motor.

I see you mounted it independently of the cab. Was wondering the other day if anyone had cut the back of the cab on a later Toyota and bolted on a camper body. Anyone?
