    Tire wear

Yes, the tires are old, about eight years. That's how long the bike was on moth balls but, I have had this happen on new tires. Probably more my riding style, aggressive, both road bike and dirt bike style on back roads that are far from racetrack smooth. Lots of heat cycles probably doesn't...

    Tire wear

Yes, I've gone through sets in five hundred miles. We are all lucky to be alive?

    Tire wear

I did and it didn't look anything like that. I'm a little surprised because I usually wear the rear tire out first.

    Tire wear

Wednesday I had a hankering for smoked salmon and saltwater taffy (not at the same time) so I jumped on the 690 for a spirited four hour round trip trip to Bodega Bay. Saw some adv bikes and a couple of very large expo truck/rv rigs on highway one. Not sure what kind, maybe pinzgauer or unimog...

    Too Cool

Agreed. We need more advertising/marketing like this, GM Future-Liners and the Hot wheels funny car trucks. I was born to late.

Looking for some confirmation - Suzuki DRZ-400?

Glad you're moving forward with this. I feel it'd be best to use their bike so you don't need to worry about passing an inspection, you get to ride a bike that you might not otherwise and chances are that it will be something with a low seat height (depends on your height) and center of gravity...

Looking for some confirmation - Suzuki DRZ-400?

I would really like it if you reconsidered listing to music or podcasts while riding, especially as a new rider. I've had a motorcycle license for 25 years and it is a jungle out there. Riding quads and bikes on trails is fun and good for learning technique, but commuting on the freeway and city...

I thought about that while typing but failed to give the proper safety warning. Thank you for bringing it up.

    Portable camp fire grates...?

Interesting idea, never put any thought into this before, but what comes to mind is a properly sized section of chain link fence. Put some hooks on to suspend it, with weight on it it will sag down hammock style but will be adjustable and as a multi use bonus it could be an emergency traction...

    Decent Winch For 8,000lb Van.

Personally I'd go for a made in china Warn VR series 10 or 12 thousand pound. Amazon and Northern Tool have them for $570. A year from now when you're stuck, you won't miss the extra $250 over the HF and you still have money left over for extensions, pulleys and shackles.

Other fast deploy ground tents besides Oztent and Gazelle?

That is disappointing, it was going to be my next tent.

Other fast deploy ground tents besides Oztent and Gazelle?

Black Pine turbo tent. Similar to the Coleman, but with more features and better quality.
