Agreed. Soft tops work just as well as hard tops and are more versatile in most cases. Hard tops are not as easy to slice into though but any vehicle left unattended is a target for thieves.

Out of curiosity, is that a stock color for the CJ8? The reason I ask is that I saw another 8 that looked the same color but I assumed he had painted it that color. I love that desert military color/look. Nice rig!

I really apologize to the OP, but I feel I need to put in my two cents here since I know quite a lot about the FJ cruiser argument. "A stock rubicon wrangler will not out wheel a stock fj cruiser." Unfortunately, this is not a true statement. I love landcruisers as much as I do Jeeps...

My opinion is to keep the CJ, and toss some money into it to improve it. You could even put in an auto with a nostalgia shifter (so that it still looks like a manual). Just improve the road manners. Scramblers are so rare and so very cool. :-)

I didn't realize it was Smittybuilt when I first saw it. No comment there and no explanation needed. It looks a bit like a big marshmallo. I definitely prefer your top by the way. :-) I think Jeep owners will always pay for quality and those who don't will wish they would have later.

Jeff, were you working with Gr8 Tops on this design as well? If so was there a patent? They obviously saw yours... Sorry to see this. :(
