    '94 truck build, the Toy

So I got some work done on my truck, tuned it up, put on new tires and I was going to take new pictures for the board this weekend on my way to Raven Lake British Columbia... Not the brightest move I made. About 4 KM's off the highway I ran into snow and got stuck half way up a hill, being...

Never owned before: advise needed: 94 4Runner to good overland.

I also have a '94 pickup, same frame and drivetrain, different body and I'm curious, how do I know the gasket job has been done? I'm pushing 340000 km's and there aren't any running issues, minus two engine codes... And whats the 3.4 and 3.slow? my truck certainly feels underpowered

got some updated pictures, and a look at the suspension. I know its pretty hard to see, the ground is still cold and its a pain to crawl under my truck in this weather, but I'm still iffy about the springs being worn out. Does anyone recognize those blue shocks? yay for dialup friendly :)

TIRES: Copper SST or Goodyear Duratrac

thank you jfarsang for your input, I personally really appreciate comments like this since I'm actually looking almost all the tires you've listed off but I just haven't heard any feedback about them

I actually have my own dedicated snow tires for this time of year, come snowfall I just change tires so its not that big of deal, and its actually legally required now to drive snow tires in winter such as the Cooper Discovered, which are the tires I currently have on the truck. Couldn't handle...

    '94 truck build, the Toy

so I just snagged a pair of original toyota aluminum rims for my truck's year for $200, in pretty good condition. Now comes tires... I went to another local shop and got a really good quote of the BFG KO's ($960 mounted and tax in) but for about $60 to $90 more ish I can get the BFG KM2 D: or...

on that note, I discovered that re-treaded tires are available locally, however they're not road legal here, I'm wondering if treadwright tires would conform to Canadian law. I believe this calls for research! so more on research, they might be legal, might not be, can't really tell but I can't...

    '94 truck build, the Toy

I looked into treadwright and I have to admit, I like the idea, however all the tire sizes that fit my truck are on backorder, even 33's. So maybe in a few weeks I'll check back and see how its going.

    '94 truck build, the Toy

I have been looking around and I unfortunately have not seen any tires I would like. Sure they could be cheap and nice, but sadly up where I live here 4x4ing isn't like it is in more populated places, so the tire selection is pretty bad. Far as I know there are no local clubs for 4x4ing...

I'll check it out thanks! my next paycheque might go there! right now I'm comparing tire size and I would love input I have a few options, I could go for a 235/75/r15 (approx 9.2x30ish on a 15" rim) or I could go for 31x10.5r15 for $100 more, or go for something like a 33" tire

    '94 truck build, the Toy

I'm pretty young but I was top of the class in three things, metal shop, automotives, and computer programming.... strange combination, I know, but hey, it comes in handy. So I've got a welder in the garage and access to a huuuuge scrap yard, I'll take a look at the springs there edit: did a...

squirly? my back end reminds me more of a cracked up midget with a fully automatic shotgun... *borderlands reference* The locker is on my list, but later down the line, it depends on what I end up doing. For the areas I go hunting the absolute most important feature is size and...

    '94 truck build, the Toy

well I just priced out some Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, I'll be grabbing the suspension as soon as I can though. I broke my spine a couple years ago and I suffer from back pain, so I need a slightly softer ride :P I priced out some OME stuff, I'm looking at leaf spring kit, front and rear...

    '94 truck build, the Toy

I do really like my truck, the manual transmission shifts great with a little stiffness, interior lights are shot, tail light needs to be replaced, some body rust, it needs a little love, but I can't wait for the summer. I just tracked down some goodyear Duratrac tires too :D as for the...

    '94 truck build, the Toy

once the weather warms up a little I'll go outside and take a bunch of pictures, but I think this summer I'll be putting in an order for the OME suspension parts. Does anyone have experience with the Flippac from adventure trailers and know if it would fit my truck's box? its what I'd really...

    '94 truck build, the Toy

there, I changed it. It is a little bit of an odd truck, I'm trying to get a little more history from the previous owner, but it was nipping cold outside today so I didn't get around to taking pictures. I've heard a ton about the EMU shocks, kits, and other things, and I'm really tempted to get...

    '94 truck build, the Toy

oh shoot, totally forgot pictures, I'll get on that. also, as for the sand bags, its super common where I come from (Northern British Columbia) so I've already got 4 bags in there, each one weighs maybe 70 to 90 lbs, so I have a lot of weight in the back. Even with a full load, it just feels...

    '94 truck build, the Toy

so I recently bought myself a 1994 Toyota pickup, the predecessor to a tacoma. I've been driving the truck for a few weeks now to get a good feel for what its already got, and trying to figure out what I need to do to it. My biggest concern in regards to overlanding is my suspension, which is...

    My new overlander!

Hilux? no, that would be a diesel It has a 3.0 L V6 already though, with plenty of power for me Oh, and I figured I'd post a current list of mods and details. -aftermarket head - cold air intake - flared wheel wells for larger tires (the 32" tires the previous owner don't fit anyway) - winch...

    My new overlander!

this one's got a leaky transfer case, but the engine is pretty solid. I'm planning a rebuild in the next few years anyway, or possibly a hilux swap. $3 grand (Canadian) got me this little thing, next best was 7 grand, and the more expensive one burns oil :P So I'll be posting my finds as I go...
