    RPhil's Excursion

There are a few threads on various forums. Here is one specific to Excursions: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1561962-best-location-to-tap-hot-coolant-for-an-aftermarket-heat-exchanger-for-hot-water.html If you wanted it at the rear, you would just need to tap into the coolant lines...

    RPhil's Excursion

The axle upgrade completely transformed the ride. Here is the write-up for anyone else who is interested: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1695833-05-front-axle-with-2-5-springs-and-pro-comp-rear-22415-a.html. Nothing worth noting otherwise. Random camping trips and use. I took the drawers...

2000 Ford Excursion axle swap question

The axle swap makes a great difference in how the truck handles. I am very happy with how mine turned out. @mmrocek here is my write-up on the Excursion forums: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1695833-05-front-axle-with-2-5-springs-and-pro-comp-rear-22415-a.html

Next build choice? E-350 cummins/6.0, pickup and bedcamper, or....?

'05-'07 F-450 with bulletproofed 6.0 or '08-'10 F-450 with CR cummins swap. Your 40k budget for the van swap or 10 year old Dodge truck will get you where you want to be with these two options. *edit* Not sure if your budgets above included money for the camper. I am not intimately familiar with...

2000 Ford Excursion axle swap question

If I recall correctly, I bought my front 2006 4.30 for 800 a couple years ago from PA. It took me a long time to find a 4.30. Came with radius arms, steering box, trac bar bracket and a few other misc pieces as well. I agree on the comment about 1500 being on the higher end, unless it was...

    $26k- 1998 Toyota 4runner SR5 pop-top camper (5spd, V6)

Very clean. Good luck with your sale. Do you have a build thread anywhere? I would love to read more details on the roof/tent.

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Where did you take this photo (if you don't mind sharing)? I am from Maryland and am always looking for new places to explore. I have also been to Assateague numerous times. Greenridge Forest is our go-to for camping.

What generation 7.3L F250/F350 is better to start with?

The answer is dependent on your budget and what you really want. If you are willing to perform the other major work that you have outlined, then I do not think doing some basic rewiring on the gas tank should be your deciding factor. If I recall correctly, 2002 was the crossover year for the...

    2005 FORD F350 Crew Cab SB 6.8 V10 4x4

The V10 is thirsty but extremely reliable. Just torque the spark plugs properly and you shouldn't have an issue. Worst case scenario is a timesert to fix it. Otherwise the coil packs can go bad, but they are very easy to change. If you spit a plug, just unplug the injector and you will be able...

It looks like an awesome platform. I hopped over to Steel Soldiers and saw some of your posts there as well. Years ago I had dreamed of a deuce and a half, but this vehicle seems way more awesome. I will be watching and living vicariously through you.

HVAC Control Wiring Question - Coolant Heater/Circulator

Thanks for the information, looking forward to your measurements. The Espar isn't really an electric heater, it uses some power of course for operation, but it is a fuel-fired coolant heater/circulator. The startup electrical power will be high, then it tapers down to a lower amp draw for...

$200 5KW Portable Diesel Air Heater

Thanks for the information. Extending the wires for the controller seems simple enough. I would just prefer to not have this entire device in my sleeping area. Ducting the heat in as opposed to the exhaust out seems more safe to me. It will also save me interior space.

HVAC Control Wiring Question - Coolant Heater/Circulator

Yep, gasoline, but eventually swapping in a cummins and 6 speed. It is looking like it may be significantly easier to just get a standalone air heater and then plumb in a basic plate heat exchanger in the engine compartment for hot showers. Like you said, would only need to idle for a...

$200 5KW Portable Diesel Air Heater

For the newer all-in-one units (ex. https://www.amazon.com/Happybuy-Parking-Muffler-Control-Motorhome/dp/B07YF8HPHL/), is one able to utilize the controls to manually set the output, or is there a sensor located on the unit that will force the unit to ramp up and down based on its temperature...
