Does a decent 12V heater exist?

When we bought our pop-up it had a little propane heater in it. It’s the only part of the original interior we kept. Already have and use propane for the outdo cooktop. A little bit of 12v for the blower and you’re good to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Liquid Spring

There is an override switch in one of the panels we can use to manually lower or raise the rear end. It happens enough that we joke every time “is it gonna drop?” The suspension drops when the rear doors open, and raises when shifted from park. Much of our problems could very well be in the...

    Liquid Spring

There is a lot going on with that system. When it works It’s great. It is however, one of the systems that seems to struggle to keep working. F550 4x4 wheeled coach Ambulances, for context. Just my first hand experience. But it is much more reliable then the air system we had on the rear in...

    Thoughts on No Boundaries

Just gotta be creative and realistic in how much space one may need. We are a family of 7 plus usually 2 dogs. We make our modified pop-up work! It’s a work in progress. But it’s serving us well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Small cross-over SUV functional for adventuring?

Our Honda Pilot takes us anywhere we want to go. Get what is affordable and reliable, and take that as far as you can. Most of your driving will be on the highway so it makes sense for your only car to be biased to the street. A 2WD car with good AT tires will go to 90% of the places you want...

    Polluting vehicle restrictions in Europe

1st responders are cool with electric. We have classes and updates from manufacturers available to us fairly regularly. I’ve cut several hybrids on scenes and gone through full electric cars and scoped them out. No real “cut job” on a Tesla yet though! Everything is well labled as far as high...

    Honda Pilot off road testing

That’s cool. Mexico is on our list. 15 would’ve been fine I agree. If I had had problems I would have aired down more. 90% of trips is on roads. For most people an awd crossover is all they need.

    Honda Pilot off road testing

Follow up from last year when we replaced our dead Durango. Spent five days at our favorite spot, Cape Lookout NC. Short answer is that it did everything I asked it too without any complaints. Concerns were tranny temps, traction control intrusion, lack of a low range, and ground...

Family of 5 trying to figure things out.

The most important thing is to GO DO IT! If you wait to have the perfect truck or equipment, or the kids to be “old enough” you’ll never leave the house. Start with small, easy, and short trips. Much adventure can be had on gravel fire roads. I feel the high clearance of the prerunner is as...

Durango has died. The Pilot is moving up. Can it take it?

God to hear. I did lots of research and read every post I could find. So far they’ve been great in the snow as well as the muddy mess afterwards.

Durango has died. The Pilot is moving up. Can it take it?

Update! First step for the Pilot. The most important part of a rig is the part that touches the ground. So got the new tires put on. My needs are sand, snow, and forest roads. After all the research and checking reviews I think these will be what I need.

Best setup for a family of 5

Lots of resurrecting of old threads today. We ran a Durango 1st gen. 8 of us. When people complain about space I just giggle.

    Dodge Durango: sing the praises

Throw some 265/70 17” on RT rims and call it s day. Trim a bit of inner fender but nothing major. I swapped a bench seat in the front of mine. If a family of 8 can be self sufficient for 5-7 days out of it than anybody can. I wouldn’t have parted with it. But blowing head gaskets at 360k miles...

    Durango as Expedition Vehicles.....?

Don’t laugh too hard! The D I wheeled was an RT. It was amazing. I’d fill it with my wife and 6 kids. Load a weeks worth of gear on top and on the hitch rack, and just go. Cape Lookout was our place to be each summer. I didn’t lift it but upsized the tires slightly and trimmed a bit of inner...

Durango has died. The Pilot is moving up. Can it take it?

It’s really just going to be a “try and see” kind of thing. I’ll take notes and pictures when I do. If I watch the temps and keep speed reasonable, the worst that can happen is I need a tug or two and my friends laugh at me.

Durango has died. The Pilot is moving up. Can it take it?

Already ahead of you on the tranny temps. My Durango had an all gear diff in the transfer case for its AWD mode. The Honda will create much more heat because of slipping clutches in the VTM-4 system. I still mostly worry about airing down. The low sidewalk and the confused VSC

Durango has died. The Pilot is moving up. Can it take it?

Two problems with a 4Runner. I don’t already own one. And I need 8 seats. Budget says we’ll be getting something else in two years and putting the Pilot back to the non-primary adventure vehicle. I recognize we will be in the Tahoe, Seqouia, or Wagoner (not holding my breath) class at that...

Durango has died. The Pilot is moving up. Can it take it?

Any AWD crossover will never match the Durango, I know that. Nobody makes a midsize body on frame 4WD 8-seater anymore. Things are trending to either bigger, or more carlike. Not much in the middle for us. I mostly know what to expect out of it. I just don't want to be the first to get one stuck...
