    Never Renogy - App Terrible

It's feels so ridiculous to attempt all this community integration for a battery manufacturer. I would totally be a fan considering the 8 months of rough roads we put this through but the few times when we're way out, I don't want to be trying to figure out how to login.

    Never Renogy - App Terrible

We've actually had pretty good lucky with the Renogy system of a DC-DC charger and 100 amp hour battery, working great for 8 months. It's just thier app is terrible. We're out in the middle of nowhere Boliva, no cell, no wifi, and the stupid app wants you to login to tell you what your current...

CVT Hybrid Tent Leaking When Closed/Folded

We sold ours and got an iKamper. The hybrid/expedition series was a lemon in my opinion. I came to realize that in the PNW you want a true hardshell. CVT doesn't seem around anymore, just a few tents online. It got bought out and all the retail locations closed. Part of me wonders if the...

Why are torsion bars so vilified? And were Land Cruisers ever designed for recreational off-roading

See the Slee 100 Series Guide, in 2000 they switch to a 4 pinion front diff from 2 pinion. Honestly torsion bars are slick for finishing a rig. Being able raise or lower incrementally after a lift or changing load conditions is great, plus durable is inline with the rest of the vehicle. I wanted...

Hourless Life: Documenting Our Global Overland Adventure

I've got the Garmin Instinct Solar and also really impressed with battery life. The new version 2 should basically never need to be charged unless you're recording a lot of gps activities. I love how simple the Instincts are it is so I try not to get tempted by the Fenix Series but maybe...

    TeardropsNW Ranger

While I'm waiting for the new front boxes to arrive I installed some flexible solar on the hatch. Two 200watt panels. Achieved 157watts peak on a winter day in the NW which is honestly better than I expected. Also 180deg awning. Things are coming together!

    Andy's 100 Series Build

Arranging stuff on the roof, figuring out what actually fits, how much space we need for everything. Really surprised there's no commercially made quick bracket for Zarges cases. Ended up fabbing my own out of aluminum C-channel. New Owl Expedition ASAP mud-flaps are sweet.

BLM Proposes New Fee Increases in the NW Oregon

This thread has a very fireside chat feel but... But unless agencies all over start actually building more campgrounds, trails, and especially parking lots its only going to get worse. They only have two tools in the shed right now, higher fees or lottery to prevent overuse. I'd love a revival...

Cook Partner stove FAQ / Master thread

So I've been using the 20"x12" Chef King/Rocky Mountain griddle on the 22" and I feel like the burners on the stove are too far apart. Like the hot spots are practically on the edge of the pan. You kind of end up with a raging hot spot then cool areas. The stove is barely on when using the...

Experiences with Overland Vehicle Systems RTT?

Yeah agreed. There's like 2 YouTube reviews of the tent and one of them is definitely not positive. I was on the fence about getting one for a few months. Between the Bushveld and the iKamper. Would be curious what you got and what you think. I ended up going with an iKamper because there in...

CVT Hybrid Tent Leaking When Closed/Folded

Our Hybrid Rainier didn't leak but we also stored it in the garage. The hang of the fabric was never right and pooled water every-time it rained. It seems CVT has since discontinued or is selling it as an "Expedition" model at a huge discount.

    TeardropsNW Ranger

While the front box is still being reworked I found the deal I was looking for on an iKamper. About 40lbs less than the old tent. Completely different in terms of setup/takedown time.

    TeardropsNW Ranger

So that front box was way too heavy. It brought the tongue weight up to 285lbs. 220lbs of steel box plus battery, hardware, etc. Removed it this weekend in anticipation of going to some aluminum boxes. 285lb tongue weight was not fun to jockey around. Lesson learned.

    Andy's 100 Series Build

I went with the Sony XAV-AX3200. Seems like a quality unit. Hardest part was installing and aligning the backup camera I got. Terrible design where the set screw moves the camera. So nice to have modern build in Bluetooth. Also initially tapped the brake light instead of reverse light so that...

    Andy's 100 Series Build

Yeah it was a fairly simple replacement and I assume easier to do before it breaks off in there. I just pulled the old one out and immediately slid the new one in following the same motions.

Will we be seeing truck prices come down in the near future?

There are some really bad van builders out there who were doing just fine the last few years that are going to be hurting soon. Small time operations who realized they could cram 5k worth of Ikea cabinetry into a van and flip it for 170k. I've been through a few van builds lately they are IMO...
