    Winch anchor

The drawbar of a Hi-Lift buried 2/3 of its length at about 30° is a very stable winch point in certain types of terrain. You'll need a good 5 pound sledge to drive it.

    Building Camper for Small Pickups

Splitting hairs again. Forgive me for not memorizing your post by rote. we're not trying to that's a bit over the top for a camper, looking to run an Alaskan on your '85 Hardbody? I forgive you for not reading my post. You know, there where I said you'll never boost the GVWR, only make the...

    Building Camper for Small Pickups

You're splitting hairs. You said you had 400# of bumpersliderskidhilift12vfridgewhateverthe**** and I said if you want to haul it all and the kitchen toilet too you need to upgrade beyond the design parameters. And gears are about 30% of what determines your GVWR, suspension another 20%, brakes...

Mercedes G Wagen Fail On Snow Covered Road

Damn near looks done on purpose.

    Building Camper for Small Pickups

A 200# bumper is non-essential to the operation of the vehicle as engineered. If you want to operate the vehicle outside the design parameters, modifications must be made. You mentioned suspension , the next step is regearing.

    New WARN Epic Recovery Kit

Hey Andy, not sure if you have a line to engineering, but do you think you could enquire as to the feasibility of adding some extra length to the shackle pins (ALL of them, not just Epic) and drilling a hole so a lock can be inserted? I realize this would require new molds and casting, etc, but...

The odd couple. 83' Palomino Mini L and 04' Ram 1500

Your converter, in its original 1983 form, was only there to replace the battery if you had shore power available. That's what the switch is for, it selects shore power or battery as the 12v power source. It is also not designed to recharge your battery from shore power. I would replace it with...

    Any Pop-Up Camper owners here?

Mine is a torsion axle. No flip necessary, just add blocks. 4" lift I'd love to revamp it with Timbren's axle-less suspension! It's done some hairy fire roads, it's main limitation for off-road is actually the short tongue and on-road style coupler. A little length on the tongue, a max...

    Any Pop-Up Camper owners here?

Too bad you're on the other side of the country. My '89 Palomino is going up for sale this weekend priced dead spot on your budget.

    custom bumper reliability

Those are cast with stamped ratings. Do any of the hooks in your pics have stamped ratings? I'm super biased, obviously. I had a tow hook go through my rear windshield in my younger years, and snapped one on my Frontier a couple years ago (wicked pull, all we had, etc...) Will never recover...

Testing Forced Air Furnace Electric Draw

How many amp hours in your battery, to start. That's your initial limiting factor. A nice flooded group 31 deep cycle will run that furnace a lot longer than a starting battery, for example.

    custom bumper reliability

I would feel really sketchy on a snatch pull with any of the ones you've shown in that post. They're all cast, and not a single one can be "closed" leaving a chance for slippage at all times. Not safe. There is a huge difference between a tow hook and a recovery point.

Rubber diamond plate panels and some kind of bracket on the hood? Any ideas?

The mats are likely better rubber than the tires...

    custom bumper reliability

I wish I still had the snapped hook from my Frontier. The thing was absolutely porous. I did drop the disclaimer "snatch-style pull" btw. Sure, an OEM tow hook will hold up when you're getting winched on the tow rig. I doubt that's what the OP is looking for though.

    custom bumper reliability

The problem with factory tow hooks is that they're made of cheap pot metal, and break easily on snatch-style pulls. The brackets and shackles, not so much. They do sit a bit low compared to aftermarket bumpers, but for $85 vs. $1200 I think it's a worthy trade-off. Yours sit a bit lower than...

    custom bumper reliability

A couple of pieces of 3/4" thick by about 12" long angle iron and a couple of well placed holes and you could bolt them up to the stock tow hook locations. ...

What is this before the diff?

That's exactly what it is, I believe. The cable is pulled and the assembly moves the DS forward and inch or so and holds it in place so that it may spin disconnected from the rear diff while towed. Is this thing AWD? Yup, google e350 rear coupler disconnect. Images tab has blueprints and all

New WARN Ascent Bumpers for '16-'17 Toyota Tacoma

*ducks back in* That's the other thing. Noone but Shrock will rate their hitch bumpers for us Nissan owners. Sucks, I need a good tow bumper with departure angle! *Dashes out the side door*
