    Kitchen Kit/Chuck Box

I took a quick look... My first question is is it really 48lbs for just the box? Or is that loaded? And if it's loaded, what comes with it? I really like the metal design, but I would expect it to be a lot lighter for it. Is is made from steel or aluminum or...? I definitely like the...

school me about tent trailers please (2010 Coleman Yuma)

I don't think you're going to find anything under $2500 unless you go used (and quite a few years back). However, that said, perhaps this would work for you: http://www.livinlite.com/sut8.0-overview.php If that's too much deck space for you, perhaps the regular version with the rear deck...

Skersfan's New Shuttle Pod Trailer Build...

Couple of questions... (and I apologize if you've answered these before and I missed it...) Do you have an approximate price in mind? Will it support a rooftop tent (like an autohome) on top? Also, in addition to our Disco, we have a Toyota Minivan (the "Slug") -- is your trailer something...

Skersfan's New Shuttle Pod Trailer Build...

We have a Columbus rooftop tent (from Autohome) that uses gas struts with a screw-wheel that you can tighten to keep it from collapsing in the wind. I don't think we've ever used them, but something similar could work for you, perhaps.

How old before it's safe to take a baby on a 4x4 trip?

My oldest son went for the first time when he was less than 6 months old. Mind you, he slept through the whole trip, so it was nothing to him. That said, every parent has their own comfort level and the first (and possibly most difficult) job is to get mom & dad to agree. Last Saturday, I...

Campchef Sherpa Camp Table And Organizer

If I had designed it, I would have made the storage for the tabletop fit into the depression on top, rather than sticking out the back. Better still, as someone said, make it permanent. No real need to detach/fold it since the rest isn't going to collapse or fold up.

    Plates, cups and bowls ???

We're using plastic stuff from target -- we bought sets of 4 bowls/cups/plates/etc. for like $0.50 per set on clearance when they were closing out the summer stuff. Mostly, I'm cheap. Otherwise, I'd have melamine plates/etc. also from target.

    Water Storage

Search ebay for "drinking water pump" -- there are lots of similar ones meant for 5-gal water bottles.

    Stacking storage

We use flip-top storage containers like this: http://www.homedepot.com/Storage-Organization-Storage-Totes-Baskets/h_d1/N-5yc1vZb9oj/R-202520515/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 (although we get ours from Costco). They work really well and stack nicely. We can fit...

    Kitchen unit/pod for van?

Depending on your materials, there are a lot of ways you could put together a table like that. A simple wooden surface, a hinged pole (could even be adjustable if necessary) and voila. Try these guys for the cabinet end: http://govart.com/hardware_cleat.html but a couple of bent brackets...

New Modified Teardrop Concept, Max Storage with Slide-Out

Here's a thought... what if you put a small cabinet across from the door, up against the opposite wall? From the front of the bed to where the wall starts angling inward, and the same height as the bed. It wouldn't take up an excessive amount of space and would offer some serious benefits...

New Modified Teardrop Concept, Max Storage with Slide-Out

At the very least, that long storage spot at the front of the slide-out should have an access door from inside the cabin.

New Modified Teardrop Concept, Max Storage with Slide-Out

Personally, I definitely prefer simplicity to fancy options -- I'm dreading the day the power sliding doors on our minivan die and we have to get them fixed. But I also like headroom. My thought was why not go with a pop-top like a westy? btw, I love the design! It's not right for us (we...

Offroad Trailer Rental- Would you rent?

I definitely wouldn't mind being able to rent one. To be perfectly honest, we'd probably only use one a couple of times a year, for the next few years anyway. We'll probably buy one, but renting could be an option for us. If renting didn't cost as much as buying, that is.

    Low profile metal storage container?

These aren't big enough: http://www.safedepositboxes.com/category/BONDBOXES.html but it's a start... I would imagine that a sheet metal fabricator could be persuaded to make something for a lot less than the hoffman...

Camping in norcal with 2 year old

Welcome! Well, this is a little late and perhaps not what you're after but I really like Portola Redwoods State Park. It is RV-ish, but not terrible. For more remote, perhaps the Mendocino National Forest might be worth exploring. Lots of trails for off-highway driving. I'm in the City...

2 week overland trip with 2 babies in a defender 90, suggestions??

We've had good experience with the coleman tent fan: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009PUPSS/ Not sure we've been in 100+ deg. with it though.

2 week overland trip with 2 babies in a defender 90, suggestions??

Don't think you're going to do a 10-hour day of driving. 3-4 hours is a good day. Stop a lot and let the kids explore. If you can, when you've got a day of travel, get up early, before the kids wake up, and hit the road. When they wake up, have breakfast and then do another hour or so of...
