    Chevrolet Pronto 1975 fire engine

I've sold mine, unfortunately, but the new owner keeps it in shape and uses it for travels (limited as they have been the last year and a half...) Good luck with yours!

An Oztent to complement my Kamper, maybe even replace the RTT

We have an RV4 which we have used the last two summers, maybe 50 nights in all. We're five in the family, so we've split up between the Maggiolina Adventurer RTT and the Oztent. Last summer we had the RTT on a trailer. We've hauled it through mainland Europe and Iceland. We're very happy...

    Post up your drawer/storage system

I built this in 2009: I've since used it from 6000 more kms around Europe, and 3000 kms on roads and tracks in Iceland. It still holds together, and still no rattles or squeaks. I think I can safely recommend this type of simple construction from a durability point of view.

In other words, just the kind of fun I was not looking forward to... :/

    1974 Chevrolet Pronto fire engine

I can't really tell from the pictures, and the truck is in storage at the moment. The number of bolts are what identifies it, then? Then I'll have to see if I can get access one day.

    1974 Chevrolet Pronto fire engine

OK, so spring is coming, and the truck is in winter storage, but I'm planning to add power steering to it before the summer. It's heavy on the steering, and being long, needs a lot of steering input in tight spaces. Can anyone ID the steering box on this thing? As mentioned earlier, the frame...

Ford announces details of new Transit van

This is the European Transit which is coming to the US, isn`t it? Then there is a 4x4 already available over here.

Yet Another Bolt-Together Fiberglass Trailer Kit

Since I live across the pond from you, I expect that the cost of shipping would be considerable. Do you have a rough idea of the dimensions and weight of a packed kit?

Yet Another Bolt-Together Fiberglass Trailer Kit

Well, I like it! Actually, I would like a GRP replacement tub on my rusty and dented licence-produced "Bantam", but I wouldn't mind using this either.

Advantages of D2 axle over D1/RRC/Defender?

Doesn't the Bowler/QT Wildcar rally raid vehicles use D2 axles? I've no idea what they do to them beforehand, but it seems like they're good kit. I changed rear unit berings on my D2. I hated the cost, but the job was very quick at least. LR went back to regular hub design on the next...

How young is to young to start kids camping?

Some friends of ours went camping with their premature baby, actually before the original due date! The weather was nice and they were close to civilization, but still... Mommy is a nurse and not fazed by much, BTW. :D We dragged our 15 months old around Europe for almost four weeks this...

Adventure Riding Solo: Do You Do It?

I don't ride bikes, but thanks for sharing the story! We (as people) have a tendency to share only when things go well, but sharing those not-so-great moments can be of great benefit to us all. Food for tought and all that...

New Jeep Concept Vehicles at Easter Jeep Safari

I just love the FC! A production version, with regular axles and a van body, would be the American UAZ-452. Production of the 452 started in 1965, and is, as far as I can tell, still ongoing.

    Project Mini Hägglund

The hydraulics only work from side to side. Maybe what you saw was a damper? I was trained on these in the Army in the 90s. From what I remember the controls were steering wheel, throttle, brake, automatic gear box, handbrake and hi/lo range.

    Vehicle Soft Door Lock

How about two big grommets and a wire lock? Requires holes in the top and door, though... I'd go with a lockable console inside and some orderliness. :)
