    Wiper blades

Then again, at one point a new Ford cost $1,500.00 I replace the blades with Bosch (the articulated kind, not the single blade deal) twice a year. What are these silblades you guys are talking about? Where do you get them?

The DiscoDavis Discovery 1 Mayhem Thread

I don't necessarily know Land Rovers, but I do know vehicles in general, and buying any used vehicle usually means taking on a boatload of deferred (read: neglected) maintenance. Plus, if you sell it, you're likely to loose what you already have in it, and your next purchase will simply have a...

Democratic Republic of Congo: Lubumbashi to Kinshasa

Hats off to Frederik & Josephine! Thank you for taking the time to post your trip and your insights. The adventure reminds me of the book, "Malaria Dreams" by Stuart Stevens and his oft repeated phrase, "Ah! Africa!" Looking forward to reading of your further adventures!

    Fire extinguishers

The trouble is, dry chemical gets EVERYWHERE! Used it on a car many years ago, washed the car and the engine compartment within two hours of putting the fire out. Nonetheless, within the year all the paint on the top of the car was dead. Every piece of aluminum under the hood (the fire was only...

You might want to notify the police concerning the car. I'd hate to think it was unknown evidence in a criminal investigation!

    Lumpskie's 1989 Grand Wagoneer Build

What I usually do is to install the ferrel for a compression fitting, then cut the brass nut, leaving the ferrel on the line. It's a pain to get the hose over the ferrel, but it won't pop back off.

Questions on the 4L80E and 6L80E transmissions

One other thing to remember with the 6L80E is that it is an unbelievable large transmission.

Photos of mid-sized vehicles - Post Here

In the Jeep world, it's a full size, but by today's standards, it's a mid size. 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer LY5 (5.3)/4L60E swap. Daily driver and BOV, it has made several trips from Knoxville to Albuquerque and back plus a few other shorter road trips. Still much to do, but it gets a bit better...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Got a few changes done. Put on a pair of billet mirror mounts and a set of Dodge Van electric mirrors. Haven't quite worked out the wiring yet, but the mirrors are mounted. I also installed a perforated vinyl graphic on the rear side windows. And for the fun of it, here's our...

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

True, but in this case, it's not necessarily hearsay. We've put three of the things in my father's '56 Chevy, and the one I put in my Jeep didn't make it 3,000 miles. One thing that might help is to mount the radiator to the core support with rubber. We did this on the last radiator in my...

    All-Purpose Scout 80 build

Great build! One thing, and you can take this with whatever grain of salt you like, but I and many I know have had trouble with Griffin radiators. They seem to have a propensity for cracking where the tubes go into the tank flanges. Griffin will stand behind the radiator, but the issue remains...

The gauges are Speedhut (the speedometer and tachometer are Can-bus), the outlets are late model Ford (the A/C-Heat is mid '70s GM truck), the double-din w/GPS is Kenwood, the CB is Uniden (I had to divorce the face from the body to make it fit), and the Scanner is Uniden.
