    Car in ditch

I pulled out a buddy in a 2WD Tahoe after he got the crazy idea that going mudding would be fun. He high sided and was sitting on the axles. The Montero pulled him out like he weighed nothing! I've been very suprised with how well our monteros do under pressure. Wish I had pictures.

Gen 2 & 2.5 owners..what your milage and long term ownership reviews.

Got my 96 SR at about 165k and have since added about 25k to it. Other than replacing a few normal wear and tear parts that come along with a 20 year old vehicle, I have never had to do a big overhaul on anything. The montero has proven to be the most reliable vehicle in the family. I have 33's...

96 Monty SR Build! Slowly but surely.

Nice! Luckily I don't do fast off-roading where I live. Not enough room for speed.

96 Monty SR Build! Slowly but surely.

Got my new KYB Gas-A-Just shocks put on Saturday. Love the new, solid feel when taking turns at speed! I could easily compress and extend the old shocks by hand. Need to go test off-road soon.

They are manual. You could probably swap out the upholstery from leather to cloth though if you don't want to lose power seats. I can't imagine it being too hard

    '94 LS Wheel/Tire Questions

My bad, I thought the steelies were what the stock chrome wheels on gen 2 were referred as.

    '94 LS Wheel/Tire Questions

I vouch for 33X10.5r15 BFG KO2 on stock steelies. Hell of a tire.

    Howdy y'all...Another new Mitsu convert.

Torsion crank really didn't make the ride rougher for me. If going with 33's I would do a 10.5 wide. Anything more might be getting heavy for the 3.0L. Mine has 33X10.5 on a 3.5L and it gets slumpy up hills sometimes

Gen 2 Montero SR seat compatibility.

Try and find some cloth Gen 2 seats. I put some in and they haven't had a single tear since I got them and never had them before.

    Outdooraholic's Montero Sport Adventure/Build thread

I've had 33X10.5r15 BFG A/T's for a while now and I haven't had any problems and love them! They honestly didn't take away much power and do well on and off road.

Went to the river today, had to snap a picture! Looking into either fabricating a mount for my new hi-lift as a swing out carrier (also to be equipped with gas/water cans) or a roof rack out of an ATV ramp. Both unique, both useful.

    Gen 2 Feedback

One thing I can point out is that this is not a 97. Looks like a 95-96. 97 had wider fenders and different body cladding. One thing to ask would be if he did the timing belt with OEM parts or aftermarket. Aftermarket timing belt kits tend to crap out kinda early. As to 100k more miles, if you...

    Advice on a Gen3 Purchase

Have to agree here, the gen 3 is more comfortable on the inside and if built right, can do some significant things. Go for the gen 3!!
