    FOUND Vans For Sale!

Sadly considering selling my 4x4 Savana as it just doesn’t suit my current needs as well these days. https://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/cto/d/snowville-4x4-gmc-savana/7165848406.html

    Express AWD Winch Mounting

Mine is not an awd, and I don’t remember exactly how the frame on my old awd one compared to this one, however I did exactly what you mentioned. I cut the crossmember out and redesigned it. This is with the winch mounted flush to the bottom of the framerails. It is a smittybilt 9k of a couple...

    Johny5's stealth camper van

I picked one up from napa (or possibly carquest) as I didn't want to use the used joints on my donor truck. I do remember it was a little different than the (stock?) one that was on my donor truck in the area next to the threads, and maybe even the length of the threads so it is going to depend...

    Johny5's stealth camper van

Steering and bump steer: I used a frame side bracket from WFO concepts for the track bar, which they use for silverados. It needed to be modified a little for this application but saved a lot of time making one from scratch. The 3" one is the one you want, as you want it as close to the frame...

    Johny5's stealth camper van

I did this swap in the fall... and have put about 35k on it so far. I think I have finally dialed the front in, and am going to share the details on this thread to keep the info in the same spot as opposed to making a new one. For reference, I have an 04 3500 with the 6.0 that had 260k on it...

Chevrolet Express Van - AWD to 4x4 conversion

So I no longer have this van I converted, but I now have a 2004 6.0 4l80 that I converted with a solid axle. The 4l80 has the speed sensor in the trans and not the adapter so it has no idea when I put it in low range. I haven’t used the low range a lot yet but it seems to function pretty normal...

    Johny5's stealth camper van

Looks like you added a crossmember back in under the engine... I have cut the crossmember out and am trying to decide if am going to replace it somehow, or how I am going to reinforce the motor mount area if not. Any pictures of how you fit that crossmember?

Chevrolet Express Van - AWD to 4x4 conversion

So my experience on my 2007 was that the tuning for the low range is not in the transmission segment, if so it would be as simple as swapping that segment. It is in the body segment, so when we were swapping segments from 4wd silverados I could get the low range to work properly, but it would...

    FOUND Vans For Sale!

Just found this local while searching for my next express/savana to do a 4wd conversion on. Seriously thought about at least going to look at this for a couple hours as it is already converted but I ultimately want 2003 or newer for the modern engines. 1997 Chevy Express 4x4 for $5000...

Chevrolet Express Van - AWD to 4x4 conversion

The picture had to do with the original topic of this thread, and was requested by others. The original awd BW 4473 transfer case (not the one we are discussing using in this particular thread) will not handle missing a driveshaft. It is a viscous coupler, and I am pretty confident you will...

Chevrolet Express Van - AWD to 4x4 conversion

Pretty sure you risk damaging your transfer case by taking a drive shaft out. I'm not sure on the s-10 case

Chevrolet Express Van - AWD to 4x4 conversion

I have some pictures of the shifter installed on another computer I never use and am not around often... I will try to upload one if EP lets me... not sure the requirements to upload pics on this forum. This is the shifter I used...

Chevrolet Express Van - AWD to 4x4 conversion

I used a newer 241c with the other style front output yoke. It worked with no issues. I used a cable shifter designed for the 241c so it was pretty simple. I used the adapter that came with my 241. It was slightly different... But I have no doubt the one from the awd case would have worked just...

Chevrolet Express Van - AWD to 4x4 conversion

For those of you wondering about the front end holding up. I live in the Colorado Rockies, have taken my van anywhere I would ever want to take it, and been surprised how well it has done. I have had tires off the ground, and driven down rocky trails that were about as rough as I could have...

Chevrolet Express Van - AWD to 4x4 conversion

I have done this as well, and would like to share what I have learned about the low range shifting issues. For reference I did it to a 2007 awd 5.3 flex fuel. I attempted to see if the low range programming was in the stock pcm as the astro guys have been fortunate enough to find. The pin that...
