    GX470 suspension and wheel upgrade

Just got back after a test drive following the install today. Observations: 1) wheelwell clearance is now on par of what my FJ had. 2) some vibration at 1200rpm's and 30mph. hmm. (like drive shaft vibe) 3) some wobble at 60, just slight, as if my tires need balancing, (just balanced a week...

    GX460 headlight problem

I rode with my daughter 2 nights ago in her 2010 GX...and it scared the crap out of me. Her headlights were so dim that you literally could not tell any difference if they were on or off. Horrible, probably the worst ever. Surely there has to be a replacement for the OEM light bulbs that will...

    One-burner propane stove?

Chet, the 1 burner Partner stove is sold through OK4WD and was $209. You're right that the stove isn't on Partner's website, and the only way a guy knows their available is through word-of-mouth.

    One-burner propane stove?

Got one of those Gas1 propane/butane stoves and I've used it for the last year. It has worked fine with only 2 sniglets; no wind screen can be a pain, and it's designed for the 1lb cylinders which is a pain on a longer trip when a bulk propane tank would work better. Works fine but I wish GAS1...

    07 FJ Cruiser renewal

Needed just one more drawer...or maybe two. Something to store light weight bulky stuff like bread, chips, and paper towels. Bought two Iris storage boxes to put a finishing touch on the storage system. Also found a Gas One dual fuel single burner stove/case (next to the Iris drawer) which is...

    07 FJ Cruiser renewal

It was decision time with 210K on the clock...do I sink money in her or move on. I had an offer for a straight-up trade on a 100 Land Cruiser with about 70K fewer miles, and boy was I tempted. But, I remember years ago letting go of my R1100 GS dual sport Beemer after 6 years of adding...

    Camp Plates

Found these on Ebay for about $30 shipped for a set of 8. Some form of Melmac(Envoy 100) and made in the USA. These used to be standard issue for hospital cafeterias. Can't kill em and easy cleanup and storage. I got on the hunt for something like this after 2 sets of glass plates were ground...

    Water Boiling Efficiency

Have a GSI Halulite kettle that's quite light but very sturdy. Heat transfer is rated very good. Comes in 2 sizes and a little spendy at $20 to $30. GSI gear really has a rep for lasting.

FJ Storage This was a post-Christmas project with my SIL. Thanks to the help of a fellow forum member, Todd Gill, all we had to do was go to Lowes and get our materials. His measurements were spot on and it fit like a glove. We took Todd's advice and used 1/2" birch instead of 3/4" and it was...
