    it does seem odd after all the good woodwork the builder would choose this way to hinge the hatch. Henry taught me to wrap the hinge in naugahyde to keep out water and mount to the edges of the hatch/ opening so it virtually, visually, disappears.

    Who has used wood to skin there expedition trailer and floor also?

    would help reducing condensation. finish the sheets including edges before installation and might want to isolate it from direct steel contact to minimize squeaks. through-bolt wherever practical. in addition to mechanical fasteners, VHB tape can be your friend.

    weight limits of a span

    usually an 8" - 10" oak branch will do the trick. the neighbors really enjoy an engine hanging by a chain for a few months. usually Memorial Day to the Fourth of July is long enough.

    not sure that was any news flash to someone following the build thread. surfboards don't really have any systems or moving parts. well, some have an allen screw holding the skeg into its box, but i've yet to see one with lights or running water. or that has to keep out the elements. just 'cause...
