Is $500 a good price for a 2008 Gary Fischer HiFi Pro?

Well, I got a bike! Not the GaryF though - which sold the afternoon I emailed the seller. I ended up getting myself a 2000 (Old, I know) Specialized Rockhopper A1 FSR. It is heavy, and has rim brakes (V type) 26" tires, and spring suspension (which I hear is a tradeoff with some advantages...

Is $500 a good price for a 2008 Gary Fischer HiFi Pro?

Can a bike that was $3k when new 8 years ago be so cheap already? It sounds almost too good to be true, but the listing for the bike includes a serial number that hasn't come up as stolen. The description says the bike needs new tubes and rear brake maintenance - neither of which seem all that...

Aussie Locker bit the dust, new locker recommendations?

Bingo. But I have power steering pump and power windows issues that suddenly cropped up which will be addressed first.

Stupid weird AC condensor/PS cooler failed. HELP!

It's pretty cold here right now. Could I get away with running a soft line from the out port to the in port and bypass the cooler entirely? Temporarily, of course.

Stupid weird AC condensor/PS cooler failed. HELP!

Actually, since the condenser is fine, should I just ignore the PS cooler portion and run the lines to an aftermarket universal cooler? The hard lines to the cooler are intimidating. Would there be any problem using the soft lines that come with the universal kits?

Thanks all, I think I'll be tracking down a Spartan.

Stupid weird AC condensor/PS cooler failed. HELP!

Alright, I changed the PS pump in my '02 WJ last night and suddenly sprang a leak out of what I THOUGHT was my AC condenser, a big old crack right in the bottom. Looking more closely, that's not all it has going on. What else is it doing? It looks like it's also a PS cooler on the bottom...

Aussie Locker bit the dust, new locker recommendations?

I should also mention I don't know 100% if the front axle is still the d30. I think it's the D35 but I haven't talked with the PO for about a year now, so my memory may be foggy. In any case, it doesn't change the question.

Aussie Locker bit the dust, new locker recommendations?

Yeah I have the selec-trac. I run in snow and ice often enough that one locker is already too much sometimes - especially on roundabouts. Heaven help me if I have to stop to yield and then accelerate through it... Can't imagine how two would be.

Aussie Locker bit the dust, new locker recommendations?

I was just using Dana's own designation for the axle. 44a is not the official nomenclature.

Aussie Locker bit the dust, new locker recommendations?

So you've had both? Do you prefer either? I just think running it in the front which is (I think) a 35 is a bad idea.

Aussie Locker bit the dust, new locker recommendations?

Axle: Dana 44 HD Ratio: 3.7: 1 Application: 2002 GC Laredo V8 Expedition style build (32" cooper discoverer AT3s, no front locker) So my Aussie crapped the bed, it's clunking and banging like you would not believe, especially around tight corners that require acceleration (as you would expect)...

Cooper AT3 vs. Falken Wildpeak vs. BFG AT KO

It is worth noting, the AT/3 does fill up with mud pretty quick, and is less than ideal for that, but excellent in rocks and is surprisingly good in deep sand (when aired down, as always) I tend to run gravel roads a bit too fast and the handling characteristics of the AT3s in a slide are very...

Cooper AT3 vs. Falken Wildpeak vs. BFG AT KO

I had the KOs and replaced them with coopers, both in 265/75/r16, and the Coopers are worlds better both on and off road. Not cheap though, my set was $880 installed after tax.

4 Vehicle Choice for Budget SUV

WJ all the way! If you can, find a Jeep WJ gen grand cherokee with the notorious failed heater core. You're looking at about 10 hours of driveway DIY time to pull the whole interior apart (c'mon chrysler, why do I need to remove the friggin' transmission tunnel covers just to change a heater...

    Abandoned/derelict sites

How about a referral system? A few years back, a website called "demonoid" - which hosted pirated software, movies, etc - avoided malicious users, (who would spread viruses) and prosecution, by requiring new members to: 1) be nominated by an existing member 2) contribute to the site before...

    Full size spare WJ

Hi all! I'd really like to carry a full size 265/75/r16 spare in/on my WJ, as I have an auto locker (Aussie) on the rear, and swapping a front wheel to the rear and putting the undersized spare on the front is an unappealing solution. Considerations: -It won't fit in the spare well -The back...
