    ARB cords and fridge mods

Good point. It was upside down. There are a half dozen screws in the bottom that have to come out in order to remove the plastic case. It’s also easier to take measurements and slide the foam in. I did let it sit right side up after for a bit. I should have mentioned that in my post.

    ARB cords and fridge mods

I’ve had this thread bookmarked longer than I’ve owned my ARB fridge. Today I finally got around to adding some insulation below the “warm” shelf. I used two layers of “Low-E” insulation taped together with the foil sides outwards. The lines coming off the compressor do a nice job of holding it...

    HEMA Explorer North America

Thanks for the explanation! I (only) have Gaia at the moment so I'll have to try that out. Hopefully HEMA can get that fixed.

    Our Echo 5

We decided we won't be selling the trailer after all. After a lot of searching and head scratching we haven't found anything else that suits our needs as well as this trailer does. So in order to get ready for the summer we went out to the local wilderness area for a shakedown day trip. Great...

    A 5th Gen 4Runner Long Term Review

As someone with twins in diapers I agree that it works wonderfully for this.

    Our Echo 5

We went out to Cranbrook last week and spent a few hours at the NASC warehouse with Michael and Denise. They had all the trailers (Echo 3, 4, and 5) on display, as well as some accessories and spare parts. We picked up a spare parts kit as well as a few replacement parts for our trailer. They...

    Our Echo 5

It's been a busy couple months so the trailer fell to the back burner for a while. With the coming of spring I finally decided it was time to get back at it and get things ready for camping season. The battery charger in the trailer has a few different modes based on certain factors, including...

Maxtrax vs TRED vs Tracmats vs X-Trax vs X-Jack

Where did you get the mounts from? I can only find Australian sources for them so I've sent TRED an email asking for any suppliers in North America. I'm hoping to find them somewhere closer/cheaper than the Southern Hemisphere.

Looking for our first cruiser. Weigh in on our options!

Hi there! Whereabouts in Alberta are you? There are some nice JDM RHD diesels for sale in AB and BC. I wouldn't sweat the longevity of gas vs diesel in a Land Cruiser, they're all really reliable engines. I had a 1996 gas 80 series that I drove across the country and back with no issues and...

2nd gen Tacoma Vs 5th gen 4runner back seat comp

We have a pair (yay twins!) of Graco Snugride 35's in our 4Runner. I'm 6'1" and I have no trouble driving with the carseats installed. I typically have the driver's seat at the lowest height setting with a fairly vertical seat back and I can put the seat all the way back except the last half...

    Our Echo 5

Pictures would be great (either here or in your T4R.org build thread). I believe the instructions say to remove the springs from the truck to install the bags but I've seen a few folks saying that they can be installed without removing things. What do you know now that changed your mind? Edit...

    Our Echo 5

Thanks guys! I'll try to get some tent photos up this spring, but for now if you check out the two Echo sites listed in the first post or the NASC Facebook page you can get a pretty good idea of how the tent looks. Thanks. The time and effort savings were definitely a big part of our decision...

    Our Echo 5

A quick tour I've had a few people asking for more information and photos of the trailer so I'll try to give the quick tour here. There isn't enough height in the garage to set up the tent so that will have to wait until I get a chance to haul it outside. The left side has the nosebox...

    Our Echo 5

It's true, I was really surprised to see that everything just seems to fit without any major work. There isn't much deflection in the suspension even when loaded. I figured that with the bed being on top of the trailer any movement up there would cause the whole thing to rock but even with two...

    Our Echo 5

I had some free time and nice weather in January to tinker with the trailer in the garage. Ever since noticing that the bolt pattern was the same 6x5.5 as Toyota uses on their 6 lug trucks I've wanted to see if the OEM 4Runner wheels would fit under the trailer. Knowing that the Toyota alloy...

Thanks Pat! I really enjoyed watching your build progress over on IH8MUD. You've built a pretty awesome trailer.

    AWD/Full-Time/Centre-Diff vs Part-Time 4WD in greasy snow?

I wouldn't sweat it. Tires are going to be your biggest determining factor in winter handling. FWIW, I don't notice any substantial difference between my past 80 (;)) or Subaru and my current part time 4WD 4Runner or Ford pickups that can be traced to the drivetrain. Proper winter tires on the...

    Our Echo 5

Our first trip was a sort of honeymoon road trip through British Columbia. We picked up the trailer on a Saturday in late November and after some more practice setting up and tearing down we headed west. Our timing and route plan could have been better as the highway turned to ice and frozen...
