So, you're saying that the New Defender collects all of those things AND sell it to third-parties? A lot of those things mentioned are illegal to collect in at least the EU. I'm sorry, but I assume you have lots of patterns for hats you can make from "stuff" from your kitchen drawers. All...

The same is true when you update your graphics driver on you computer or something else. It still does not mean "surveillance" nor "selling your data to third parties". I'm sorry, I can't find my tin foil hat. As for this: Let me point out an important part of that quote: . That is not...

Still nothing about "surveillance" and "selling your data to third parties". It seems they do just like a computer which relies on, say, Intel to update the processor's firmware and the like. Ever updated a driver on your PC? It doesn't say anything in your quotes that hints at this being any...

You can strawman my position as much as you like (and you seem to like that quite a bit), but it is about range and speed with that range. I didn't say it was about bicycle touring at all. But it's quite telling that it can't outdo a middle-aged amputee on a loaded bicycle. That speaks volume to...

How Where do you get the "surveillance" and in particular the "selling of your personal data" from?

Look back all the way to page 1 and see who is "exceptionally dense". But, sure, whatever.

That may be. But the reality is that you won't get more energy than that (at the very, very max - ideal position of the sun etc.). So it doesn't matter if PV cells are around 25% efficient, or even if they were only 3 % efficient by now. We know for a fact how much we should be able to get at...

Well, it can. We do know the efficiency of solar. You can't go over 100 % efficiency. And even with such a high number, it still won't be feasible. It's not a "paradigm": You can't make solar panels (or anything else) more than 100 percent efficient. If you could, you would have made the first...

And you're not getting this: A solar-only car is not feasible. A car powered by (say) house-mounted solar panels is (commuter). But travelling with a solar-only is not. If you're only saying that 100 % electric vehicles are feasible. Well, yes, of course they are. You can use the grid or use...

I am talking about what it would actually take to make a vehicle solely propelled by solar. That is what it would take even if we had access to 100 percent efficient solar panels. My point was not that it was something I'd want, nor that it would be anywhere near "comfortable". The point is that...

Seeing how the best panels are around 25 percent effective (well, almost for the most part), that means that in a perfect world, with the same array area, you could get four times the power at some point in the future (in principal). That still won't be much power. So I think what you want to do...

    Rivan - Tank Turn

I think it was the tank turn that wasn't something really spectacular in itself (although it kind of is). I don't think people can imagine when they'd use something like that. Same thing with a hydraulic "parking" brake: Only useful if you're rallying or drifting or something, and therefore not...

Feeding and caring for a horse is more difficult than caring for a bicycle. However, it IS telling that it can be done better on the bike. "Derp" indeed. If we aren't allowed to compare this to other types of vehicles and their range, why even bother having this thread?

"all due respect," ha, ha! We are talking about range. I am saying that the range is still so abysmal on solar alone that even a friggng bicycle powered by an amputee (me), have more range than that thing, and can keep a higher average than that. Of course, the moment you actually plug it in, I...

Yep, they are at a stage where they still can't compete even with a bicycle. It will become better, no doubt. So far, I'd rather take my bike, and if anything serious happens, it can be thrown at the back of pickup quite easily.

Again: That solar panel roof will have to be extended to provide anything near that. And that means you can't drive at the same time (and it needs to be pointed right). I think it's a bit disingenuous to claim that many per day when you realistically have to stay in place to charge, and then...

Never been to Argentina, but I have been to plenty of other places on a bicycle - including crossing Australia. It's not that hard. What a stupid response. You act like no one else have travelled. And they aren't only using solar - they charge their vehicle. So, no, I'm not currently...

TBH, at that range, I'd rather use my bicycle (and a little solar panel for the phone and other electronics) for a much larger daily range. Okay, it takes a bit more effort, but I like to ride my bike anyway.

It says "100 mile range". But I suspect that is on the battery pack when fully charged (with the level 2 charger). I doubt those solar panels are even close to enough for a 100 mile range per day. Edit: It actually says further down "up to 30 miles a day from the sun".
