    Mtbxj87's 1989 XJ

Thank you. Simple made it easy to do. It feels like the rear rides much better now. Could be placebo effect, the shocks are a little bit more angled. I'll probably add acorn nuts to the ends to protect the threads of the bolt.

I test fit the shock at ride height. All good so I burnt them in. Passenger side More clearance!

    Mtbxj87's 1989 XJ

I decided to make the rear shocks high clearance. So I built these I whittled them out of 2x4 .25" wall. 9/16 grade 8 bolt I was amazed how easy the old mounts came off. I cut about a 1/8" into the weld and knocked them off. Then I cleaned up the tubes and tacked the new ones in place.

Got the other swing out arm done Sunday. Basically a replica of the tire swing out. Next will be bolt on attachments for fuel cans or ammo boxes

    On-Island XJ Build

Well besides cutting it out and welding clean sheet metal in, fiberglass is really your only option. Fiberglass doesn't absorb moisture like poly filler does. You're ok, but you might want to drop the head liner down and see what's under there.

    On-Island XJ Build

Yes I had trim. It was peeling off. So I took it off and never looked back. I used a eraser wheel to get the adhesive off. Xj's have nice natural lines so they look good even with out trim

    Mtbxj87's 1989 XJ

I started on the passenger side swing out. I'm using the same size bushing as the tire swing out, the main beam is slightly smaller square tube. I'm still getting my welder dialed in but my welds are looking much better.
