Such limited 4x4 van choices with decent gas mileage (in the US)

I skimmed back through the entire thread just now. Did you ever give a budget? You can get 20mpg+ with a diesel Sprinter or maybe AWD Transit. But they'll be expensive. If you can wait another 6 months and have $50-$60k to drop on it the VW ID.BUZZ should be out. That should get you the...

Such limited 4x4 van choices with decent gas mileage (in the US)

OP (SpaceJamHikes) : I'm resurrecting this thread from awhile back: What did you choose? Are you still in the Outback? Did you compromise your MPG vision and get a big van? Find a Delica somewhere?

My 2016 frontier build and adventure thread!

I've been watching your thread since the beginning. I've got an '08 setup similarly. I've got a few questions: 1) do you leave the iKamper on full time? How hard is it to remove? I used to use fiberglass toppers only for many years but I had a way to take them off/on with a hoist in my...

Upgrade my Subaru Outback or trade it in?

As another counter-point to the litany of anti-Subaru folks: Subarus are very capable. And if you haven't pushed it to its limit then you don't know what it can do. If you aren't super experienced off-road then you're likely being overly cautious. Believe me: even if you get a 4Runner w/ a...

Build - Frontier with ARE DCU topper

I had a similar experience on the WAM install, however mine was likely a good bit more difficult. They sent me one for a. plastic bumper Frontier when I have a chrome bumper. Ended up having to weld on some new mounts and I did an alright, but not great job. Same with trimming the bumper to...

Starting new build - 2022 Frontier

I've got a 2008 Fronty so I can't compare there, however my wife drives a 2020 Subaru. The "smart" cruise control hammers the gas AND brakes to maintain the speed very aggressively. I found in the settings that this is configurable to a few different levels. I dropped it just by one and it...

    Tool Overkill?

I also like to keep a few sockets/extensions/etc on hand. I'm specifically wondering about specific-size wrenches vs. adjustable. Hmm, well that is sorta the point for me. The "toolkit" I have stashed under my seat isn't what I'm going to rebuild an engine with or anything. It's for the...

    Tool Overkill?

Question for whomever: why all the wrenches? I've always kept a generic adjustable wrench and vise grips under my seat but never felt the need to lug around a bunch of different sized wrenches. Any work I need to perform "on the trail" (or wherever) is both unlikely and only the bare minimum...

    Squarestream

I just discovered your DIY pop-top. Very impressed. It's refreshing to see people making what they want and getting out there. I'm subscribed to see your updates. I'm still deciding if I'm going to build my own or buy. Your can-do attitude shows through and is inspiring. Thank you for sharing.

Nissan Frontier 4X4 Custom Wedge Camper in Mass

$18k for both is a steal! GL with the sale. I’d like the camper but I’ve got a 6’ bed and already own the truck. One suggestion: if you find it tough to sell separate them. Each of these items is pretty hot right now alone. Used prices on trucks are high and pop-up campers for 5 foot...

Building an upper bunk/cot in pop-up truck camper

I like your ingenuity! I can't say I'm super comfortable with the strength of those attachments but it also looks like you know what you're doing. And also you tested it yourself first so: thumbs up.

2011 CC LWB Frontier with Vagabond Drifter

I've got a 6M CC LWB Frontier as well. I love seeing yours. Keep us updated. I'm jealous of your topper.

2019 Frontier SV 4x4 Crew Cab LWB weekend adventure truck build

To each his own. Looking through a rear-view mirror (glass) and 3 more layers of glass still works fine for me. I could live without rear glass but I prefer it. As for the side: I like being able to see out when I’m in there. You can always block with shades if you’re worried.

OP what are the chances of you coming through the Southeast anytime soon?

    Winches and circuit breakers/fuses/disconnects

OP I felt the same as you and the conclusion I came to (for simplicity and cost) was to install a heavy-duty isolator switch. It's normally off and the twice a year I need the winch I pop the hood and flip the switch and we're good to go. At least if there is a short I'll find out when I'm...

Another cheaply, homemade Taco Pop Up

AbleGuy: I'm subscribed to this forum looking for something similar for my 6' Frontier. I appreciate your work aggregating these adds for the lightweight popups here. They are tough to find.
