Have you tried a swag with a cot. I use this setup a lot and it works well. I too am getting to old to sleep on the ground and moved to a larger tent with a stretcher. The tent was a pain for quick 1 to 2 day get aways so i bought a Darche dusk till dawn swag and put that on my stretcher works...
