2006 4WD Tiger Chevrolet diesel XXXSOLDXXX

Question about the diesel and that big frontal area of the camper - what does it actually get for highway mpg? There's a lot to like in this package.

    Cummins British Military Expedition Truck

Aren't diesels older than 1997 exempt in CA? Also, I saw the note on the 0.67 overdrive - what ratio is in the axles? Meaning, how is it on the highways?

And now the moment you didn't know you've been waiting for...Atl-Atl's 4x4 Ford E350 RV documentation thread!!

Got it, and thanks for the response on using 4x4. I did manage to get my EB, 2wd, unlocked van uphill through Longs Canyon in Moab's one rock section, but it did require more momentum and tire spinning than I would have liked, and that's with an empty-ish van. The hive mind would tell me that a...

Such limited 4x4 van choices with decent gas mileage (in the US)

I just got back from a euro trip and almost every single car & van on the road over there is a diesel with an adblue system. I asked around about failures and high maint costs and people just looked at me weird. Is there something in the US fuel making it harder on the systems? Or why are they...

So...however many thousand miles later, have you had a chance/reason to use the 4x4 yet? Since this thread has started, I have picked up a 20' Class B and I'm leaning more and more to just a mild lift kit, proper leaf springs in the back, and sending it. Sand driving is the only thing giving me...

Such limited 4x4 van choices with decent gas mileage (in the US)

Find a Chevy Express with the 2.8L Duramax and a quigley or advanced conversion. Or, there was a Transit with the 5cyl powerstroke and a quadvan conversion on the front range of CO not too long ago, might still be for sale. It's a bummer the Metris doesn't have any awd options with the 4 cyl...

    2003 E350 4x4 Quigley Hightop. 55k miles

Which engine? Also, undercarriage pics would go a long way being based in VT and mentioning some surface rust down there. The vertical wall with rear gear garage is actually how I was planning on laying things out in my own van, but a turn key ready to go one is tempting.

Back on the Market: The Baja Box: E350 10' Box Van

Good eye. Anything a potential buyer should be on the lookout for? Since you know the rig better than anyone else. Edit: just saw the salvage title, nvm

    WJ Ute - camper?

    I stand corrected, 540 lbs. https://totalcomposites.com/lynx-slide-in-camper/

This could be a game changer for some, Ford Transit Trail coming to the US

Btw these are starting to pop up. One is on FB marketplace in CO Springs for $72k ish. Says inbound dealer order.

    GC Wj

I wonder if anyone has tried importing one yet. The Mercedes engine + better body would be fantastic, and we're coming up on the 25 yr mark...

    WJ Ute - camper?

So, I have been eyeballing my WJ in the garage and the Smyth Ute conversion. I chatted with Mark the other day, and he thinks a reasonable payload would be ~1k lbs. A composite body camper for a 5' bed is listed in the 525lb range. 475 lbs for people, dogs, gear, water, will be tight, but...

10-4. I'll kick that around. I'm sure after a big ride a shower is pretty valuable. Could also be a bike wash though! (kidding, obviously) I have been noodling around some other bike storage ideas on the back. Mounting a self contained box on a lifting moto carrier is one of them, or fabbing...

Mounting a composite camper box on 4x4 E350 chassis

I just checked out their website and it's $122-146k for a hard sided camper, not including the truck or subframe? That tempered my enthusiasm a bit. A composite box (unassembled) is in the range of $18-20k. Subframe, call it $12-15k. I'm not seeing the big jump from there? Then again, I saw an...

And now the moment you didn't know you've been waiting for...Atl-Atl's 4x4 Ford E350 RV documentation thread!!

Lol, that's definitely doing it 'under biked' at a DH park. Still plenty fun though I'm sure. Out of curiosity, what are the dimensions of the shower unit? I'm wondering if one could demo that out, and hang a MTB or two vertically in that space.

Any action shots yet? Or is the build still in progress?

Did you do a flex test/RTI ramp at UJoint by chance? I'm wildly curious how that box does with the axles crossed up.

WeldTec not doing any more 4x4 conversions?

Don't they still sell the kits? If so, you could just get someone to install it then. Or find a Quigley van and get their upgrade kit. From what I remember of their kit, it was a lot of heim joints. Which didn't seem like a great idea for a daily driver or even long haul vehicle. Otherwise it...
