    97 E350 Crestline Ambo Build/Mod

I’ve long since accepted that an 88” wide box with 8’ wide duallies that is 21’ long won’t go the places my 13’ long 5’ wide Fj40 will. Long term plan is to use the Ambo as a base and explore with the 40. Installed and painted all the TREs… Makes the shocks look old… suppose they are. These...

Now installed. Leaves more space than any other bench I’ve seen. Also lifts out with the pull of a lever.

Convertible Bed/Seat, What Are They Called?

Haven’t seen enough to know what is “normal”. The conversion van bench I have from a ‘79 Econoline van bolts down with 4 1/4” thick x 2” x2” brackets. The holes are big enough for larger bolts, but I’ve got them held down with 4 x 1/2” bolts. I’ve got nuts secured to the bottom of the floor so...

    97 E350 Crestline Ambo Build/Mod

2003 Jeep TJ. They are a perfect fit with wise between the inner fenders. Only thing that would make them better is having the mounts closer to the ends. The seat should tumble forward and stay upright for more cargo space. Or pull a lever and it should lift right out easily. It’s fairly...

    Cummins Canoe (A Stepvan Story)

I can relate… much like drywall work, some things I don’t want to get good at… even if I could get good at it.

    97 E350 Crestline Ambo Build/Mod

It’ll sit slightly higher than originally and be reclined a bit more for comfort.

    97 E350 Crestline Ambo Build/Mod

Bench seat upgrade… Previous bench gone. Started fabricating my own taller brackets to mount them. Lots more to do.

    97 E350 Crestline Ambo Build/Mod

So, jus so y’all know I’m still around… For 10+ years I’ve been trying to fit in an axle rebuild and diff swap. I’ve had 3.70 in the rear and 4.11 in the front. Well, no more. Rebuilt disc axle, 3.70 gears, etc. Custom bracket to relocate T fitting on ‘76 axle to match ‘74 location. New brake...

    Design/Layout Feedback for a First-time Camper build

Does your shower pan fold/slide out of the way? My first thought is that you should have more open space in the middle. It feels cramped to me.

Coroners Ambulance Looking for wiring help

I’d recommend a pure sine 2000 watt. The Renogy unit I’m running seems decent and was reasonably priced. I’ve got a separate 4 stage charger. So far no transfer switch… but one day it will be there also.

    Yes Another Ambulance Build

Ahh that reminds me that I discovered a new hole in the floorboards under the drivers heal. I'm hoping to leave it till spring when it's warmer and dryer.

    97 E350 Crestline Ambo Build/Mod

Over the summer I noticed a drop in performance from the 7.3. After stewing on it for a bit it occurred to me I hadn’t changed the fuel filter in a while, and it seemed like a good place to start… So… how black do diesel filters normally get? I think this one was past its prime. 8 years...

    Considering an AWD Toyota Sienna

My aunt and uncle live in a logging camp that is only accessible by logging roads that have minimal maintenance. Sometimes the road borders on impassible. Washboard and potholes that swallow a whale are common. There are warning signs that the 12' wide off highway logging trucks may not drive on...

    Considering an AWD Toyota Sienna

If it’s economy you’re looking for I’d recommend a 2004-09 Prius. They can be bought for a low price and frequently last to 500k-1,000k miles. Add a 1.5” lift to raise it to normal car height and enjoy. Keep your bigger vehicles for longer trips and more serious stuff. I know… it’s a van forum...

@Abitibi I’ve got drums on my ‘97 so my setup is quite different. Dave had a 2003 Ambo last I heard.

looking for ideas on ford E250 springs replacement

Hope they work out well for you… 3400 lbs is very similar to mines front end weight. I’m happy with the 880s Moog springs I’ve got on the front.
